When Jake brought the blood stained ladder and obvious inside joke, he placed it down, Meryl helped straighten it and she was content. Slowly she stepped onto it and made her way across, fighting to keep her balance, when she was close enough to Jake, she grabbed his hand and let him help her across. Before she could mutter anything, he was quick to check her when he said things were fine she slapped the hand holding the light away. "Okay, that's good. Now hold on so I can see again." She grunted and rubbed her eyes. That light was amazingly bright. Suddenly noised caused her to stop once more. More of the eggs were hatching, three of them. Two of them dropped onto the platform, the third wasn't as lucky. The egg was placed far off away from the railing and so that creature fell to its death. "Convenient." Meryl mumbled and aimed her gun at one of them. "Hope you have ammo." She mumbled and waited they were kind of far, both on both of the bridges. When the sack revealed itself Meryl shot, unfortunately it wasn't as dramatic as the first one she killed, it fell on what she could call its knee. The bubble popped up on top of its shoulder, Meryl let fly another bullet and it was dead. If Jake hadn't finished with his then Meryl would assist. "That's looks... to be the rest." She said with a slight shiver. "Gettin' cold quick, we should get moving." Meryl knew what happened to Jake's jacket. He must be feeling it pretty bad right now. Frost was already beginning to form on the walls. This place was becoming a freezer. Meryl followed Jake into the room with the elevator and saw the mountain of debris. She looked up and indeed saw a vent system leading in that direction. "Oh god... Jake, I need... I need you to help me up to the vent.. I need to climb through..." It was colder than she thought it would be. outside was nothing compared to this. The vent she was to crawl through looked icy, where is the ice coming from? This place has a lot of water in it, from what? As Meryl thought, this place was frozen before, maybe during the incident? Jake wasn't too happy with the idea. "What are you so worried about? I'm going to die anyways, I'm going to be fine. It can't be far. Now help me up, unless you want to skip the whole plan and jump." Her hand was pointed at the edge. "Well? How else do you plan on going down?" Seems she had won the argument, he didn't like it but he has to deal with it. She stepped in his hand again and he lifted her, she grabbed onto the edge of the vent system and crawled in, gasping loudly as her only bare hand touched the frozen vent, it burned like fuck. "Come on Meryl... Come.. on.." She began crawling as fast as she could, her clothes stuck every now and then as it froze against the vent but a simple movement broke the connection. She passed the overhead fan, she could feel ice hitting her cheek, there was water in the vent, definitely. Meryl slowed she was having trouble now she took a few breaths. "C-c-come on Meryl... s-so close...." Her breath could easily be seen. She pushed herself further, the end getting ever closer. It felt like a bad dream, the more she fought to get to the end, the further out it went. "No... C-come on... Y-you can't die... l-like this... D-die k-killing... Bitches..." Finally she slid out and hit the floor. She already felt warmer but she couldn't stop, she could sit there, she had to get her blood moving. She slowly picked herself up, thin sheets of ice sliding off her jacket. She reached for her radio and spoke through it. "m-m-made... i-it..." She looked around. There was a control panel, she walked up to it, it looked pretty simple There was an arrow pointed up. The elevator was down so that must have been the right one. She hit it and vibrations could be felt in the ground. Jake would likely be seeing the elevator begin to rise. When it hit the top, the crimson head that fell earlier was not yet dead. The limbs were so screwed up it was like a vegetable, but it could be heard groaning and growling at Jake. Meryl saw another door, she opened it and thankfully was able to go out. She was now on a railing, she could see the elevator coming up from here, she wouldn't be able to get there quite yet, the railing led around the elevator shaft and went down a bit. She could see a small elevator that would lead up to where Jake is. She wouldn't be able to take it though with the elevator there, they would have to go one at a time. She got her radio ready. "J-jake... Y-you're going to have... t-to go down without me... T-then send it up... when you're down." She said and started making her way around.
Behind Jake, Echo approached. "You got the elevator up. Excellent, human. Eve is six floors down. She's been pacing. She may know we're here now." On the elevator there was what looked like a train track but the cab was gone. There was just the control panel. It had controls to switch the floor as well as a key inside it. That must power the system. Now all they had to do is set the floor and go.

Having had lots of practice fighting the reapers before, he had finished the thing quickly and followed Meryl, fighting the urge to show that he was cold. He felt it but being the spawn of Jillian, he couldn’t reveal it. After defeating the oversized bugs, they walked back into the elevator room and soon enough Meryl requested help to get into the vent.
Although he took the role of a stern doctor, his reasons for protesting were much more personal. “No, you’ll die in there. I can’t have you do that. At least not in your current condition.” And the woman made a valid point. She was going to die. “You aren’t going to die…you’re my patient…” However, despite his words, she insisted and finally he gave in.
Cupping his hands again, he lifted her and watched as she got into the vent. Clearly worried, he stayed near the vent and listened for her voice. A few times he shivered but as soon as he heard her through the radio, he stopped. “Hey, you be careful now.” He said, staying where he was as he waited for the elevator. Once it was up, he walked to it and approached the control panel, but clumsily he had walked over the crimson head, who had taken the time to bite his boot. Jake tumbled over the crimson head and hit the floor. The radio left his grip and skidded against the elevator floor. Instead of freaking out, he laughed at his mistake and ended the time of the creature. Again, the creature’s death seemed to be a cue for the mysterious static interference.
“God…it…You know I’ll…inish the job... I’m doing all…can…Don’t…dare to do anything...” The voice sound extremely frustrated. “You didn’t finish well last time…” The male voice from earlier said. “If you…power…you have to earn-“ The other voice interrupted the male. “Haven’t I done…If you…thing…kill you.” Now the other voice was furious. “…not weak.” The other voice finished and soon a laugh was heard through the static. The male spoke with an ominous tone. “You’ll be dead before that ever happens…” And that was the most clear out of the strange transmission.
Jake blinked and took his boot out of the crimson head’s jaws. He picked up the radio and examined it for a bit. “Strange…” He muttered and then put the radio back on his belt. Without wasting any more time, he turned the key and set it for six floors down. “Meryl, it’s heading down. Stay alive ok?” He said into the radio and then he took the time to look at himself. He remembered when they were young that he would comfort her when she got hurt, but it was a little different now. He was angry at himself that she got hurt. “Strange…”

Meryl continued her trek along the way, she could hear the transmission. She watched Jake on the elevator, as he and it headed down. The elevator was quite slow. She heard one of the men in the radio that they'll be dead before something ever happens. "Not b-before me.. you bastard..." She gasped out as she continued walking. She heard Jake say that they were heading down. Mr. Obvious strikes again. Meryl let out a half-hearted chuckle before clunks behind her stopped it. "Naturally." She muttered and turned. The reaper was closer than she thought it'd be, in a sudden movement she reached for her eagle and aimed at it but it was too late, the monster swiped at her, hitting her arm and sending her Eagle off and towards the elevator, landing close to Jake. "Shit!" She growled and immediately turned to run. The bug got on all fours? sixs? Well it was crawling quickly in pursuit. Meryl could hear Jake through the radio, he obviously knew something was wrong since her gun was by his foot. Meryl didn't have time to hit the radio, though. She hurried for that individual lift. When she made it, she spammed the button furiously. The creature crept quickly after her but the lift was quicker and sent her back to the familiar rubble area. She stepped off the elevator and the bug leaped all the way up. "You've got to be fucking kidding me!" She growled and looked past the monster, Her SMG was still there. She took out a 9mm clip which was the correct rounds for the gun and slid the clip between the monster's leg. It was dead on and hit the smg. "Okay, step 1 complete mother fucker." She was cold before but the run and sudden adrenaline spike sent her blood racing and warming. She timed it and the creature tried to grab her, she slid between its leg things, one of the smaller appendages underneath scratched her cheek on her way past. Thanks to the floor being so cold, it was like sliding on ice. She stood up and moved for the smg, once again forcing herself to the floor, grabbing both the gun and the clip. She quickly removed the clip and inserted the other, all the while the reaper was closing in. Finally she lifted and at the god given moment the air bag opened up and she fired burst shots continuously. "FUCK YOU!!!" She shouted until it fell backwards screeching loudly. Luckily it didn't fall forward, it would have fallen her and melted her like the wicked witch of the west. She stood up, gun in hand and glasses over her eyes. Blood ran down her cheek but she kept the pose, the pose of someone who isn't dead, of someone who isn't willing to just ball up and let themselves die. "I am the Grim Reaper's pupil. Death wont take me so easily, bitch!" She growled and spat on the quickly decaying carcass. Jake spoke through again. "I'm okay. Just had a roach to squish, go ahead and send the elevator up and I'll meet you down there. Oh and if you see my eagle, keep it there, I'll pick it up when the elevator gets up here."
Echo looked up at Jake when the gun fell. When there was no answer he looked up. "She's most likely dead. We don't have time." Jake obviously wasn't too happy about his behavior. "It's nothing personal. If we don't hurry she could get away, or you'll freeze, or worse this place will finally give out and collapse on top of us." The elevator stopped on the floor and Jake tried the radio again. This time Meryl did answer. Echo's head tilted to the side. It was amazing to see a woman in her condition be so strong... So persistent. Maybe he shouldn't call her ends so quickly. It seems humans should not be underestimated. "You can wait here for her. I'm going on ahead." With that the hunter trotted off, the device in hand.

“You better shut up.” Jake told Echo before trying the radio again. Honestly, Jake didn’t give a shit about whether or not Echo got the other oversized lizard. He only came to make sure that Meryl didn’t get hurt. He believed by doing that he could make up for the time he wasn’t there to be a big brother. “Meryl…?” He asked and she confirmed that she was heading down. Relieved, he sent the elevator back up and waited for her. When she got down, he grinned and messed with her hair. “You’re always gonna be a trooper ain’t cha…Maybe I’ll get you a cookie…” He laughed a bit and headed down where he had seen Echo running, expecting her to follow, but then he stopped. “You’re ok still right?”

When the elevator arrived, Meryl easily spotted the Eagle, she walked over and picked it up. "You must like me." She said to it and holstered it, keeping the SMG in hand. While she has it, might as well use it. When the elevator got down, Meryl looked at Jake who smiled and ruffled her hair, treating her like a child again. She knocked his hand away and walked past him, she heard him ask if she was still okay. "Look." She said, her tone rough. "I don't have much time left and I would appreciate it if I wasn't treated like a child because I'm not one anymore." She looked back at him, eye to eye. "And you can stop the charade. I'm already going through hell to help you through this so stop trying to act like the good guy and give shit hope just to help my morale. I'm going to help you until I drop so stop asking if I'm okay every five fucking seconds. Now, if we're done being retarded, lets get this done before you fuck up like me." She turned and began down the hall, no more words being said from her, no matter what he said. It was easy to tell which way Echo went, he was standing still in the middle of the hallway to the right, looking up. "Echo, where are we-" "Shhhhhhh...."Meryl hushed and looked up to where he was looking. Suddenly a sound of thunk thunk thunk and Echo broke out into a hunter sprint, Meryl and Jake followed. An electronic door slid open into a big room. In the surroundings, small eggs could be seen laying about. "She's already laid the eggs!"~~~~Boss Battle: Eve~~~~ When he finished speaking, a grating at the top broke and out came Eve. She looked quite different to what Echo did. Echo was half the size of a human, Eve was about the size of a human, a tail sticking out, swishing left and right, and the forms of a neck could be seen. "Change of plans. Kill her, don't let a single egg in here get hurt, they're all precious."[/url] "'Bout fucking time I can die with some peace!" Meryl shouted, readying the smg, taking good note about where the eggs were, they were the size of baseballs, spread out around the edges of the large assembly room. Most of the chairs appear to be missing but there were still a few welded to the ground, pieces of chair and detached chairs litter around it. A stage at the bottom where Eve was, they were in the stands. Eve leaped up to the grating again, busting out one of the lights with her tail. She was smart... This battle was going to turn ugly real quick if this isn't ended quickly.

As she stared at him, his eyes grew cold, though his smile remained. “I’ll stop the charade. You’re not a child, ok, but do you really want me to treat you like the bitch you are? I tried giving you comfort so at least this time you know someone cared.” He paused. “You think you’re helping and protecting but all your kind does is cause pain.” Jake chuckled coldly. “Once you’re gone, she doesn’t have to remember when she grows up. Knowing you will drag her down and hurt her. Why should she waste her time on a bitch?” It was as if he became as cold as the environment. “You aren’t as 'badass’ as you think. If you don’t want me to care, then I will. Enjoy your last moments.”
Jake chuckled again and jogged after echo. When he arrived, his rest was cut short and immediately he sprinted, following the lizard. Eventually, they entered a room and soon enough Eve revealed herself. Jake thought that Eve matched the description of a Hunter much more than Echo did and he knew that this probably meant that she was extremely dangerous. Echo on the other hand was a pain in the ass, but a little less than Eve. Regardless, the new plan was to kill her, so he would have do avoid her more dangerous qualities.
For a moment, Jake thought that Eve had smirked and soon right after, chairs were launched up. He avoided the first chair but the chair part struck his arm and created a cut. As he recovered, he noticed the she-lizard rush toward Meryl, but Jake, a man who kept true to his word, said nothing. No guilt entered his mind because he reminded himself that she was expendable…

Meryl ducked to dodge incoming chairs, she didn't notice that Jake wasn't able to dodge them all. When she looked back up, she noticed Eve was charging her. Meryl readied her smg and fired off a burst, The bullets glanced off, leaving deep scratches instead of devastating bullet wounds. Those three rounds were all she could get off before Eve swiped her sharp ass claws at Meryl. Trying to protect herself, Meryl held the smg out to absorb the slash, the smg was slashed in two. Meryl dropped the only half she had left and reached in her back for the Eagle, she was quick but once again not quick enough, Eve knocked Meryl's hand and the gun went flying, then Eve spun around, using her tail to sweep Meryl to the ground. Before Eve could get the final blow in, Echo had leaped on top of her, brought her to the ground and the two rolled down the slope for a few seconds before Eve launched Echo towards Meryl, who was just getting up, the two collided and Meryl found herself back on the ground. "Fucking bitch..." Meryl growled and Eve ran towards the wall and leaped onto it, claws on her hands and feet digging into it, she was literally walking on it. She went up to the ceiling again, broke two more lights and broke her way into the ventilation system. Meryl picked herself up and jogged to her Eagle. How many times will she have to pick this gun up today? There were thumps above but it was hard to tell where and it wasn't a smart idea to waste ammunition. Echo glanced over at Jake. "If you want to live, help us. Don't stand there." "Ignore him.. he's childish." Meryl grunted, her Eagle aimed up at the ceiling. Trying to decide whether to fire or not. The ceiling busted through again, over Meryl who leaped out of the way. Why was Eve targeting Meryl? Eve ran down the slope to throw a few more chairs, letting out a loud mocking screech

Jake grinned at Meryl. How amusing, was she angry? He finished wrapping his arm and moved a bit, only to feel the numbness. Satisfied with the wrap, he took his gun out and his other arm kept hold of a chair. Eve launched more chairs and Jake launched his own to stop the other chair from hitting him. The chairs collided and pieces of plastic flew around. Meanwhile, Jake moved down the steps, shooting his gun at her. Hoping to catch her attention, he continued to approach her.
Just as he had thought, Eve dashed towards him and her slash came down like a hammer. Jake of course rolled to the side and continued to shoot, now hoping to buy some time for Echo and Meryl. After Eve took her claw out of the ground she attempted a horizontal slash, but again she missed. However, despite Jake’s duck, Eve swung her tail and sent him sliding to the opposite end of the stage. Jake was tough and it didn’t hurt him as much as Eve would have hope, but it had winded him big time. Knowing this, Eve walked over to Jake ready to slowly rip him apart, but for some reason the man would not stop smiling.
It wasn’t a smile attached to anything negative. It was an empty smile that didn’t truly mean happiness or sadness. It was a smile of a person ready to die and not afraid. Jake honestly had nothing to fear and had no regrets. Every time there was something bad happening he would think: If this is how it ends then so be it. He never kept negative thoughts for too long and when they did come up who the fuck cared…

Meryl watched as Jake sprung into action, it almost looked like a kamikaze. That boy took things way to seriously. When it came to the point where he may actually die, Meryl had her Eagle raised. "No!" She growled and fired, the bullet lodging itself in Eve's thigh, she immediately jumped back away from Jake with a growling screech. Meryl fired off some more shots but Eve was too quick and dodged him as she ran up the wall. Click click. Time to change clips, she let the spent on slide out and immediately replaced the full clip and then chambered the first bullet. Eve leaped off the side of the wall and in front of Meryl, trying to get at her again, this time swiping for Meryl's arm to disarm her again, but Meryl wasn't going to let it happen again and she back stepped avoiding the attack entirely. To save her the close quarters with Eve, Echo leaped on Eve's back and pulled her back before being flung off by the swipe of a tail. Echo immediate jumped back to his feet like things and ran towards Eve again, trying to get another leap off, but Eve noticed this and slapped him in mid air with her tail. All the while trying to flail her sharp claws at Meryl but get nothing but air from Meryl's timed back steps. By now Jake must have recovered.

You Idiot, Jake mentally yelled at Meryl. He had been hoping to slow her down a bit, but of course the woman wouldn’t let that happen. A bit annoyed, though not enough to show on his face, he reloaded his gun and flexed his arm, checking the pressure of his wrap. Still, it was numb, but he noticed that it was bleeding through. “Must be deeper than I thought…” He gave chuckle and hurried up the stairs.
Eve, clearly hurt from the shot, still attempted to kill Meryl. In her fury and pain, she failed to notice the approach of the two males. After quickly recovering, Echo charged over to Eve and jumped on top of her. Using his strength, he held her down, while she tried to shake him off. To Jake, it was like watching a rodeo show with the cowboys and very, very, very angry bulls. He was about to shoot with his normal gun, but Echo started to yell. “Now, hit her!” Understanding the oversized lizard, Jake pulled out the dart gun and once he was sure he could get a shot, he fired.
The dart ripped through the air and hit her on her side. Feeling the prick, she angrily looked down, realizing what they were attempting to do. Before she could feel the effects of the sedative, she threw Echo off and made her way to the wall again. Not wanting to be hit again, assuming they had more shots, she climbed up into the vents once more and hissed at them. Feeling the effects, she felt much slower and now, she became more cautious.

Eve weighed her options in the ventilation shaft. Her vision was blurring, her thigh was in pain and she was scratched up from the other shots, she should take this chance and get the fuck out of there, and that's exactly what she did. Multiple thumps could be herad down below, Meryl watched the ceiling, waiting for Eve the pop out again but the thumps got lighter and lighter. Curious, Echo walked over to the device he threw on the ground and saw the signal was leaving. "She has fled." "Shouldn't we go after her?" "No, if we don't leave now he'll freeze." Meryl folded her arms. "Of course... Lets go." Echo looked at the scattered eggs, not a single one was harmed during the battle, maybe Eve really did care for the eggs, if that was true this wont be the last they see of her. Using a sack they found nearby they were able to collect the eggs, all the while, Echo counted them, there was 128 eggs. One of them he held, the eggs were quite strong, his claws wouldn't hurt them if he was gentle, and he was, he pressed his scaly cheek against the egg. "Only a year..." He murmured to it and put it gently into the sack. Jake carried the sack with constant warning to be careful, thankfully he was. They made their way back up the elevator and through the main shaft, everything there was frozen, luckily the doors still opened fine. Then they got to the initial elevator shaft, the rope they used was still attached, they used that to get back to the surface. Once there, Meryl could feel the warmth, even though the mountains were snowy, the air was a lot warmer than inside there. She smiled and watched Jake and Echo. They seemed anxious to get moving but Meryl wasn't going. "No... I think I like it here." She said and looked up at the cloudy sky then at the snowy trees. "You guys go ahead. Good luck Echo." Echo looked up at Jake then at Meryl. "This happened because of me. Though I don't regret your sacrifice I will honor it. You have my promise that my species will help humans in their fight to regain the world." "Comforting..." Meryl took out two extra clips of the Eagle and two of the 9mm and threw them in the snow. "Bye." She said with a wave. How she wanted to say more, much more, but she didn't like one of them and the other was an ice cold asshole so there was nothing more to say, all she had to do now was watch them leave and her to finish it up.

The open air was warmer but still he felt nothing in the arm he had cut. Knowing that he would have to properly treat it later he sighed and continued to carry the sack of eggs. Walking down, he heard Meryl say that she was going to stay and continued to listen to hear Echo’s and her’s exchange. Amusing. Was she going to kill herself? Jake shook his head and continued to walk, but when she said bye he stopped.
The man didn’t turn around. “I’ll tell her you’re on a mission to save the world.” At least that way, if Meryl never returned, the little girl would think that her mother was important and a hero. This would be as close as it got for an apology from Jake, but he would never say the actual words. After that was done, he followed Echo down the slope of the mountain. On the way down, he noticed the cold mountain air bite at his skin and he smiled, feeling a bit refreshed. This place brought back memories.

"Gee, thanks." Meryl mumbled and watch them go down and disappear in the trees. She pulled out her faithful Eagle and looked at it. "Well buddy... One last job for you." She sighed and removed the clip from the gun and tossed it with the other clips. There was still a bullet in the chamber and she knew this. "How should we do this...?" She placed the gun at the side of her head. "Bang!" She shouted and with her other hand she put it to the other side of her head and made her palm fly open like an explosion, making a squishy sound with her tongue. "No? I think it'd be quite colorful." She joked shakily then tried putting the gun into her mouth and she removed it. "Bleck... You taste horrible." She then put the gun to her chest. "How about the heart? Yeah that'd be quick... But then I'd get up again." Sighing again she put the gun to her head. Seconds later a shot echoed in the mountain.
Echo looked back, they were quite a ways now away from Meryl. Then he looked to Jake who kept walking. Humans were strange, so eager to help each other but so quick to hate each other. He has his children now, in a year they'll all hatch and grow as big as him in the span of three years. Maybe not as smart, but they'll learn. "Thank you." Echo said lightly to Jake. They lost one but they've gained 100. Her sacrifice is tragic but necessary.
