“He isn’t dangerous…Vincent is like every other child and he’s even a little smarter…He was the first and I raised him differently…” She looked at Vincent with a warm smile. The first and last she had cried over. Creating him was the first time she had ever fought with her mentor and the first time she had ever been hit by him. Vincent brought so many more firsts for her, some of them bad and some good, but regardless of what happened, she felt a warm feeling, happiness. How corny was that? “Excuse me?” Amanda’s thoughts were interrupted. “He’s out of the system. He can’t be anymore.” Without her realizing, her voice had risen a bit.
She sighed and shook her head while squeezing the bridge of her nose. She was tired from the drive and just about everything else before it. Amanda apologized and the man assured her that they were safe. Man, she had a headache. Hearing footsteps, she looked up to see a pregnant woman. Amanda nodded her head, acknowledging the woman, and gave a friendly wave. Secretly, she was a little jealous of Marcus and elenore. They had manage to create a child, to create life the way nature intended it…
Emily, still struggling from the peepee dance, quietly watched the adults talk and didn’t say a word. When the woman came in and asked for her name, Emily said nothing and simply continued to swing her legs back and forth. She wanted to go pee, really bad. Did her mommy take a rest stop? Emily didn’t remember and she figured that she might have been asleep. The little girl frowned…why did she always miss the important times?
Amanda turned to Vincent and thought of how she could put it. “They don’t hate you, Vincent. They just haven’t taken the time to get to know you.” She smiled at him, but inside, she was surprised at herself. Amanda was surprised that she was even able to be like this to them. She didn’t remember much of her mother’s and father’s actions, but somewhere along the way, she guessed they had done something right.
Emily felt Vincent’s squeeze and for a moment, she forgot about her need to relieve herself. The little girl leaned over and gave Vincent a kiss on the cheek. “It’s ok, VinVin. I love you.” She smiled and giggled, not minding how hard he squeezed her hand. The boy could squeeze her hand until it popped, but it wouldn’t change the child’s feelings for him. She loved him like a brother.

When Amanda had tried to console the child he only cocked his head. He didn't understand. They don't know Amanda or Emily, why didn't they get yelled at? Before the thought could cause more sadness, he felt soft lips against his cheek, he turned and smiled. As long as Emily loved him, that's all that mattered. "I love you too." He said, a little bashfully. He rarely said it back because he felt it was embarrassing, but she was just too cute not to. Elenore came back and smiled. "It'll take a few to cook." Vincent didn't know what cook meant, but he was too shy to ask. Seeing the girl continue her little potty dance, Elenore laughed. "Dear, do you need to go to the ladies' room? It's upstairs, hon, go up and take a right and you'll see a small door there." Of course they had plumbing, each building had pipes easily seen running into the buildings. Yeah they were easy to sabotage but it also made it easier to fix. Where the water was coming from, they had no idea. A strange smell filled the room, it smelt kind of good. Vincent liked this cook thing. The front door opened and Marcus stepped in along with Victoria. "It's okay, I have managed to convince the others. You may stay as long as you wish." Marcus said with a smile. Victoria nodded. "Yeah, We've decided he's a child. We wont send you off alone with children unless you want to. You're welcome to stay." The woman smiled. Elenore could be heard from the kitchen. "Oh! Victoria, come in here!" She said enthusiastically, the woman smiled and went into the kitchen and began talking about the children, all positive things, even Vincent. To them, the child was just as human as Emily. Marcus smelt the food in the air and let out a relaxed sigh. "So, Amanda. You said that ARC was no more. What did you mean by that?" He took a seat again, relaxing his leg on top of the other.

Emily thanked the woman and ran up the stairs, unable to hold her little bladder. Upon getting up stairs she had to recite a little song to tell her right from the left and soon she found the small door Elenore talked about. The little girl got in and quickly relieved herself, washed her hand and came back downstairs. She smiled at everyone and sat back down.
Amanda smelt the food too, but she wasn’t feeling very hungry. After the eating some of the food she had taken from the base, she was a little full, but if they were the types to make you eat then well, she couldn’t stop them now could she. Before the food, however, she realized that the man wanted answers. “The main headquarters is destroyed.” She said, truthfully. “Buildings and walls were toppled…People thrown around…carnage everywhere. Remember the days when it was too late?” She referred to the days society really saw the horrors of the virus and the plagas. “It was as if a mirror of those times…without the virus, but with the Vespertine.”

Marcus nodded. "Yes, I get it. I guess that is good, considering they weren't exactly human. At least we wont have to worry about them attacking us. You're probably curious why they targeted the sister settlement about 2 miles away. We found a wounded survivor, he said they had accepted a scared gentleman wearing an ARC uniform. He had data with him, a few hours later and ARC stormed the whole camp, killing everybody they could without a second glance." The man sighed. "I hope you are not too offended by the reaction of the people here. They slaughtered everybody there, the man we found died shortly after. Since then we haven't heard from ARC until you arrived so naturally we'd be cautious." Victoria walked out of the kitchen, juggling four cups. She held one out to Jillian, then Vincent, then Emily, and finally Marcus. Vincent only smiled shyly. Then the woman went to join her sister back in the kitchen. "So, um." He scooted closer to Amanda and began to whisper, low enough where the children wouldn't be able to make it out. "I'm curious, are they your real children? They don't look like you and your accent is different." Vincent shifted in his seat uncomfortably. He didn't want to sit anymore but he wasn't comfortable enough here to get up. He was very shy, especially after the hostility.

To be truthful, Amanda could care less about the settlement. If ARC had attacked then they had a reason to and that’s all she needed to know, but the man continued anyways. Amanda, trying to be respectful, listened to his story and nodded at the part about the people’s reaction. It was expected considering ARC killed a whole settlement but it wasn’t the first time it happened. Maybe it was a good thing that ARC would be down for a long time in NA.
“Well played, sir…” Amanda chuckled at his next question. “As opposed to imaginary children?” She whispered back. “They are my real children, but I am not their biological mother, if it isn’t a given. American born, but I was raised in Africa…Sometimes training in ARC is a little complicated…for a lack of a better words or words.” She leaned back to her original sitting and took a sip of her water. “Africa, it’s not as bad over…North America is slowly getting worst with the infection and plagas…Most of humanity has headed North…Why haven’t you all?”
Emily finished her water rather quickly and got bored pretty fast, so she decided to be a pirate, like in the old story books ARC had. She pretended that the cup was a telescope and she could see an island free of infection. Quietly she whispered, “land ho” and she looked around with the cup in hand. However she didn’t leave the seat. The seat was now her boat and if she left she could drown. The waves were too rough to go for a swim. She needed to make it to land before the ship could sink and bring her down with it.

Marcus nodded, listening to the woman. He had to be sure that the children didn't take more after the father's traits. She then went on to ask about how most people were moving up north and why he didn't. He laughed. "The way I see it, when cattle start to gather and graze in a safe area, it'll only be so long until the lions learn of this and corner the cattle. Out here, we have room to move, not many people to contest with and less infected due to the movement." He smiled and took a sip before continuing. "This settlement is 5 months old. Most military bases are lucky to make it to the third month. We also got a little help from this other military base, they said they house the president of the U.S. Glad somebodies' doing their job." He took another sip. Vincent listened to the two but they were boring. He looked at Emily and smiled when he heard her whisper the pirate phrase. "Arr." He whispered back and giggled. He took a sip of the drink and retracted it. It tasted weird, the others didn't seem to notice anything about it, it was horrid. He put the cub on the floor next to him. Elenore and Victoria came out about this time with bowls of soup. It was abundant with vegetables, the broth seems to have been made from beef flavor ramen, the noodles could be found inside it as well. She passed a bowl out to everyone in the room, then slowly sat criss cross on the floor, Victoria stood with her bowl. Vincent eyed the food curiously, what was this? He stabbed one of the trees with his fork and brought it up. It was dark green and shaped like a tree. Vincent looked questionably up at Amanda, wondering if he should eat it. He wasn't that hungry, the last he ate was 5 days ago, but he didn't want the woman's work to be wasted.

“President?” Amanda didn’t know about any president. America and all of their glory were the first to fall and their government fell with it. There was no way that there could still be a president. Maybe if America hadn’t been so busy trying to cover it up then they could have had time to properly keep some order. Most countries were the same, but few kept some of its past alive. Last she heard the queen still lived and so did the fucking line of dictators in North Korea. According to intelligence, the place was still the same as before: nothing got in or out. Amanda found it funny how that place became the greenest zone on earth, but she was only distracting herself from what she actually remembered. “Who?” She asked the man, hoping that what she thought wasn’t so.
Emily giggled, hearing Vincent. Whenever they played pirates, Vincent usually was the one stopping her, the law breaking pirate, and she never won when he was the good guy. That’s how stories went when people told them to her, but they didn’t seem right. If the good guys always won then it should be that every time she tossed a coin it would be heads, but that wasn’t the case. There was more to it, but she still didn’t understand.
The two women came back and passed soup to everyone. Emily got her bowl and said thank you, but she looked at it strangely. “Excuse me…” She said, looking up. “What are the floating lumpy things?” The little girl poked at the vegetables. They seemed bad for her health and she didn’t want to eat anything that was even remotely dangerous for her. What if they turned her into a zombie? She frowned at the thought. Emily didn’t like the idea of eating human flesh.
Amanda chuckled at her daughter and nodded at Vincent. “They’re edible…. Vegetables…the last time I’ve seen these…was when I was a little girl. They’re healthy I’ve heard…” Emily looked at one and cautiously put it in her mouth. The moment she took a bite, her eyes lit up. They were delicious. “Thank you!” She said happily and continued to eat. Amanda ate some even though she wasn’t hungry. “It is rather good.” She smiled at them, even though, she was still worried.
------
Amanda never really got her question answered, but she stayed with the children a couple days. Amanda helped out when she could and all was well. However, it didn't stay that way for long. While carrying a basket of vegetables to the main house, she began to cough, but her coughs grew violent. She dropped the basket and coughed into her hands. Blood was coming up, but no matter how hard she tried to stop she couldn't. Amanda stumbled forward and collapsed. Why was it so hard to breathe?
Emily smiled and laughed, carrying a smaller basket toward the main house, but on the way there she saw her mother on the ground. "Mommy?" She shook her mother gently at first, but when her mother didn't respond, she shook harder. "Mommy!" She yelled but there still wasn't a response. "Help!" She yelled, clearly distressed. "My mommy is hurt!"
People quickly came and carried Amanda to a bed. The village nurse arrived. "It's ok, Emily, mom's going to be alright." Nurse Petunia patted Emily on the head but after checking Amanda, she turned to the leader and whispered. "I can't do... What am I supposed to do? I'm a nurse for crying out loud..."

"I can't believe you let him have a gun." The jerk that opposed Jillian the day of their arrival grunted. Three mussels were pointed past the gate, one of them lower than the other two. "If he wanted to shoot up in the back, he would have, Gabe." Marcus grunted and then gasped. "There's one, Vincent, lets see what you got." The rifle instantly blared, the shot landing right between the eyes of the infected. Marcus lowered his own rifle and looked at the boy with a lowered jaw. The other one, Gabe, wasn't surprised. "You see! He's only a child and he can shoot better than most of us here." Vincent lowered his gun and looked cautiously up at Marcus who was still surprised. A second later and the man went from shock to a manly smirk. "You're an ace, kid." The man slapped the boy's arm and Vincent smiled. "Marcus!.. Marcus!" A woman shouted, Lea, the "chief gardener." "Something happened to Amanda, she's in Petunia's office." Marcus strapped the gun around his arm and followed. Once Vincent was able to wrap his head around the scene he let the gun drop and then ran as fast as his little legs would let him. When Marcus entered, Petunia was trying to calm the little girl. When she noticed Marcus, she went up to him saying they didn't know what to do. Vincent ran past and wanted to hug Amanda but he was smart enough to understand that whatever was wrong with her, he may end up hurting her. He started crying with Emily and he embraced the little girl. "W-What happened?" Marcus turned to Vicky who was also in the room. "Have the children leave." Vincent looked up and he could feel Emily doing the same. "No! We want to be here!" Vincent shouted. "We need to make her all better, we can't do that with children looking, that's the only way our magic would work, okay?" Vincent tilted his head. Magic? You mean like in the stories? He looked at Emily. "O-okay... If it helps 'Manda... Come on.. Em." He wiped her eyes, though his cheeks were wet, too. Victoria led the two out and then knelt down to them. "Don't worry, she'll be okay." The woman smiled. Meanwhile, back in the room, Marcus walked over to Amanda. "Amanda... We don't know how to help you. Petunia is just a nurse and she can't do extensive checks on you. If you know how, maybe you can help us, if not we could..." He turned to Petunia. "We could go and see if that President Wisker guy could help."

“Mommy fell, VinVin…Mommy’s hurt!” She hugged Vincent back, crying on his shoulder. Emily was scared and she didn’t want to lose her mom like she had lost her dad. She knew that when people got sick, they sometimes died and dying meant that they were never coming back. The little girl didn’t want to imagine a life without her mother; it was hard enough to live one without her father. “VinVin…I don’t…wanna go…” She managed to get it out between her sobs, but despite what she wanted, Vicky led them out. Both Vincent and Vicky tried to comfort her, but the tears wouldn’t stop.
Meanwhile, inside, Amanda was struggling to breathe. Everyone seemed to be talking about something, but she was having trouble hearing them. It was then she saw Marcus approach her. What was he saying? Something about checking her… “Do you have…” Her voice came out weakly and she had to stop from the pain in her chest. Amanda couldn’t compare what she was feeling now to anything else. She tried again and tried telling them what needed to happen, but she was drifting in and out. Unable to stay awake, she passed out.
Petunia had listened to her and wrote down what she could, trying to piece together what Amanda had been saying. She could understand it, but she couldn’t help but feel like it was incomplete. Maybe she was nervous. They never needed a nurse to do this before. What if she did it wrong? Petunia looked at Marcus, a worried look in her eyes. She wasn’t confident enough for this. She had never been trained for such a thing.
Victoria was still kneeling next to the children. “I heard stories from Amanda and Marcus. Your mom must have been very brave and strong to have gone and got you two. If she can do that, then I’m sure she can make it through this, right guys?” She placed a hand on Vincent’s shoulder. “And I mean…She did it with a broken arm in a sling. If she can do that, then I’m sure she can overcome this…” The woman wiped Emily’s tears and heard the girl whisper something. “Yeah…Everything will be alright, promise…” The little girl reached out her hand and Victoria was forced into a pinky swear.

Vincent shook his head. Everything will be okay? She is hurt really bad and they know it. Why aren't they helping her? Why wont they let him see her? His fist balled up. What's to stop him from forcing them out of the way? He wanted to see Amanda. His fist loosened. No, Amanda would get hurt more.
An hour later. Vincent and Emily were sitting together one one chair, both their small butts able to fit on one chair. Vincent had his hands leaning on his knees, hands supporting his head. He sighed. The door opened and Vincent's head shot up. Three people exited, one of them were Vicky, the other two were guards he'd seen around the place. They were armed and equipped, ready to go. "Are you going to get someone who will help?" Vincent asked, a worried expression on his face? They said everything will be okay but it was obvious they were going to seek out somebody better. Vincent stepped forward. "I'm going with you!" Emily likely did after he did, he looked over at her. "No! Amanda needs you here. If she wakes up she'll be sad if she can't see you." He smiled. Then she said something about not wanting him to go. He hugged her. Tears filling up in his eyes, damn extreme emotion. "Don't worry, Em! I'll be okay... I... I will save her. Okay? Trust me." He said and pulled back, planting a kiss on her cheek. The grownups hadn't even had their chance but the boy was already running for the APC. One of the three were loading it up.
2 Hours later... The road was long. People were mostly quiet. One of the men were uncomfortable sitting near Vincent. Probably afraid Vincent would eat him. Vincent scooted away sadly. Why did he not want him near? The boy sighed lightly.
---
"There's an armored transport heading for the location." The voice murmured into a radio. "Yes, it has heavy weapons, whether they work or not I can't tell. The logo matches that of ARC, probably the transport we saw leaving the base... Mhm... Alright." The man clipped a button on his shoulder and changed his frequency back to his squad. "Alright, new orders. Break position and flag down the APC." With the new order, six armed men raised from bushes, their faces couldn't be seen, they were camouflaged with leaves and bushes glued to the uniforms. One of them raised their arms to the APC requesting it to halt.

Emily sat in the same chair as Vincent and wiped the few tears she had left. Her eyes were red and puffy and it seemed that the 'tear machines' in her body were too tire to make anymore. It didn't matter though, she hated crying. Unable to cry, the little girl found another way to distract herself from being sadder. She kicked her legs one after another repeatedly and stared down at them silently. It wasn't much, but she couldn't stand crying anymore.
It was then that three people exited, but the little girl ignored them, continuing to swing her legs. Upon exiting, Vicky took noticed and frowned, knowing how hard it was on the kids. "Yeah." She said to the little boy. "We're going to find help." She realized her frown and quickly wiped it off her face. She couldn't let the kids see her like that. "I d-" She was cut off by the child, but she saw it in his eyes that there was no talking him out of it. "Ok. Your mom is going to be alright."
"Wait!" Emily stopped kicking her legs and got up from the chair. "I want to come!" She yelled and the boy gave her a reason to not come. Soon after she felt his warm embrace. "Don't go...I don't want you to go, VinVin." Before the little girl knew it, they were gone and by the time she came to the realization, she had stood there for almost an hour. "Please be safe..." Her little voice shook.
The last time Vicky had driven something was back when taxis still were in business. She used to be the best driver of taxis and well, some of her stories weren't exaggerated. She grinned at her thoughts, but soon she stopped grinning. Suddenly the sensors went off and on the screens, six masses rose from the bushes. "Holy-" She jumped a bit when one of the things raised an arm, thinking that some odd mutation would lash out. Even though the vehicle was safe for the most part, seeing some of the mutated creatures of the lands still frightened her.

Four camouflaged men stood in the road, one with his hand up, the others not daring to point their guns up at the armed vehicle. When Vicky had decided to stop, one of the gentlemen left to greet the group, when the door slid open, the four men were quick to move to it. Guns raised. "Keep calm, keep calm!" One of the men shouted, his accent sounded Scottish, wasn't too thick, though. Another of the men spoke up. "We have them, Captain." He spoke into the comm. "Alright." The Scottish one spoke again. They had their guns up, it seems their surprise attack had worked, two of the four passengers inside the Arc APC had their guns ready and aimed, Vicky and Vincent, the two men were taken by surprise and could not reach for their gun. The four invaders had their guns raised at all of them, it was a stand off but the men weren't nervous. "We have a predicament here. Our captain is on his way down the hill with a few more men. If you keep calm and don't do anything stupid, then you will live, I promise." Three men moved out from a tree, one of them wasn't camouflaged. Black boots, dark brown pants, black gloves and a black leather jacket to match. His face was hidden behind a military gas mask complete with a black helmet. He put his arm out to his right and the two men ran around to the back of the APC, where another door was, naturally it was locked but they were ready for something. The so-called Captain stood outside, in front of the APC, his arms were folded, he had no gun in his hand. He stood there for a few seconds before he beckoned Vicky with his finger to exit the APC. His expression couldn't be read. Was this a trap? If they wanted to they would have already started a fire fight. "He wants to talk to you. You better do what he says." A third soldier inside the APC said. His voice sounded deep, from the bushes on his clothes, it was hard to tell but he was likely african american.

And so the door opened and soon the men came rushing in. Before they had even entered, Vicky had her gun out and aimed toward where they were to come in. Guns raised, and out numbered, Vicky couldn't help but be a little bit nervous. Normally, cab drivers weren't put at gunpoint and ever since this infectious hell had began, she still never had to deal too much with the guns. "What do you want?" She asked, her gun still raised. Of course, she wasn't going to shoot, but it was good, she guessed, to make sure that they understood that she also had a gun.
They explained to her what they wanted, but she still didn't make a move until she was told otherwise. Vicky waited silently and it wasn't long before the Captain called her out. She nodded and exited the vehicle with the sigh. Was this some security measure? A raid? Whatever it was, it was making her lose time and Vicky's worry was growing. Just how long did Amanda have anyways?
She took a step toward the captain and looked up at him, slightly. "I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but we're in a real hurry. We're looking for help to save someone's life becasue we don't have the stuff to do so." Vicky quickly shut her mouth after. She hadn't expected all of that to come out so fast. It was probably her worry eating at her, but she shook it off. "If you would just let us through..."

The mask stared at the woman quietly. It was impossible to tell what the figure was thinking as the woman pleaded access. She said she was looking for help to save someone because of their lack of material. The mask cocked. "No." The voice simply stated. "We've been through too much to get this trap set. You're going to help us. When we finish this, you will show us to this friend. I'm assuming there are more of you and you are not ARC. Well, not all of you." He saw through the bulletproof window at the only one wearing an ARC uniform, the boy. "We will take your wounded to our camp, then you will all be enlisted." He switched something at the side of his mask. "To positions, Mitch, you're staying in the APC, the rest of you to your positions." Three men left, the fourth one that stayed had yet to say anything. He just stared at the other men in the room. Vincent had slowly lowered his weapon. The captain looked at Vicky. "Take the helm of your vehicle. Have people on your weapons. Do as I say and you will live and likewise your friend will live." She was quick to the draw. She said she couldn't let them just enlist everybody, giving the assumption to the man that there was quite a few people she was acquainted with. The man didn't budge when she asked if there was any other way. "There is another but it wont make you happy. We don't take kindly to people not willing to sacrifice and work towards patching up the world. And yet, we also don't condone executing healthy people. If you refuse, we wont hurt you, but we also don't leave empty handed. If you will not give yourselves to cause we will take your provisions. This is non-negotiable. There isn't much time, either way you're going to help us here because if you don't, you will all die." Seeing that negotiations have failed, Vicky began walking back to the APC. The Captain turned around and began walking from where he came. The two men behind the APC ran for him to follow him back up the hill. The soldier they left began examining a console to one of the weapons. It wasn't in operation, it asked for a keycard. "This isn't working, can you guys get it to work?"
~~~~~~~
He asked, his voice light and calm. Vicky seemed to give a hand gesture from behind the soldier. THe two men looked at each other, Vincent looked up inquisitively at one of the guys. The guy put a finger to his throat and rubbed it across, signally a kill signal. Vincent looked at the soldier. Was he willing to shoot this man in the back? Kill him in cold blood even though the man was confident that the four in the APC was now on his side? What would Amanda do? Would she do thi- Wait... Why did he care what she'd do!? She's in trouble and he didn't want her to die. These people were in his way and he'd go through cities of people if it meant saving her. His eyebrows lowered, his eyes turned cold. Before the other two men could even plan out how to kill the man, Vincent had put 6 rounds of his rifle into the man's chest. That didn't kill him, he lay on the floor of the APC, green eyes staring up at his murderer. A mere boy who looked down without pity, a face of hate and disgust. How dare this man get in the way when Amanda was in trouble!? "HOW DARE YOU!" Vincent growled and shot two more rounds into the man's chest, finally he drew his last breath.
~~~~~~~
The radio could be heard. "Mitch!? Come on, mate, report!" The Scot shouted into the mic, then the cold voice of the captain spoke. "He's dead. They're already moving into the hot zone. I tried to warn you." As the APC moved, Vincent glared down at the blood, red eyes matching the color. One of the companions looked at Vicky as she drove then to Vincent. The boy's recent monstrous behavior was new. It was like telling a child to do something bad. Telling a child that it was okay, they think it's okay, and so they don't question themselves. He saw that in Vincent at the moment. Suddenly a weird rattling sound could be heard. A split second later something grabbed the APC and they were airborn, crashing into trees nearby. The radio blared out. "It's here, move, now!" Suddenly gunshots and explosions blared out. In the middle of the road was a large creature. Anyone would be able to recognize it. It was some kind of snake complete with a rattle. Two tanks could be seen reared up on the hill, firing, most shots missing at the skinny body of the snake. At least 10 people were on the ground firing machine guns. More shots could be heard from the hills, snipers. A man with a rocket launcher ran beside one of the M1A2 Abrams, fired and the rocket flew past the agile beast, connecting with a tree. "Should have listened." The captain grunted, seeing the upside down APC in the distance.

And the APC was tossed up, and then landed the wrong side up. When Vicky came around she noticed there was a small little puddle of her blood at the ceiling of the van from a head wound. She touched the top of her head and sat up before looking around and seeing that some reinforced suitcase had hit her. Unscratched and un-dented that wondrous suitcase made it through the crash and obviously if it was that sturdy and pain inducing something important was in there. However, something was escaping her head. What was happening again?
Her head throbbed in pain as she held her hand over the wound. “Guys?” She called out quietly, careful not to speak to loudly. Speaking made her head heart. “Guys…” She shifted herself a bit and winced, noticing that she would bruise. After a few careful movements she saw Mitch and another dead guy from the village. The other dead guy was twisted in ways no human should ever be twisted and at the moment that was all her mind could register.
She slowly got up and picked up the suitcase. What she was going to do with it, she didn’t know, but at the time, it seemed like a good idea. She pushed open a door and stumbled out. Vicky’s hand tightened around the suitcase’s handle when she saw the snake thing. She blinked a few times and then remembered what she was doing.
Amanda, drive, go, Damn!
Vicky mentally cursed at herself. They were running out of time and now they might not ever make it. One of the guys crawled out after her. Lucky guy had been seat belted. “That is one big snake.” He said, stating the obvious and Vicky nodded. It was one big snake. If she had known…but that was in the past and now, there was that big snake thing in the road.
What were they going to do now? Vicky knew the way there, but they had no car. The only way she could see it getting fixed was if they had a rod and a big boulder, or if insanely strong men pushed it back. Dropping the suitcase, she held on to her head. All the thinking was causing an even bigger headache. “Argh…” Before she knew it and could say anything, the guy who had crawled out grabbed one of Mitch’s firearms and joined the fray. “H-hey…” She called after, but she still struggled to walk it off.
