Vincent crawled out of the APC after the other two. His vision was blurred. Had he had been human, he would be suffering from major head trauma. As the plagas began repairing any damage to the brain, the sight slowly went back to normal. He saw Vicky and one of the other men that had accompanied them. They were running towards a large monster, shooting and ready for battle. Were they helping the bad guys? They were getting in the way? Why help them kill it now? He looked back at the APC, the wheels were sticking up towards the sky. "Oh..." He mumbled and got to his feet. He didn't know what happened to his rifle so he drew a pistol and timed shots toward the beast. It wasn't doing much though.
"Don't aim for the torso or head." The Captain's voice spoke into the radio, calm and cool. "Aim for the ground. " It took a few seconds but the tanks had redirected their aim to the ground and where the tail was squirming. A few shots and a piece of the snake was severed. It hissed, rattle now detached. The snake slammed its head on the concrete like a hammer, smashing two of the ground rangers. "Ground team, back off. Rockets, aim for the ground." 6 rockets were let fly, more of the snake's body turned to mush but it was ever vigilant. The ground team had disappeared but there were still a few on the ground behind it. He spun around and began going for Vicky, Vincent, and Mr. Guy.

Vicky’s head was throbbing with pain, but still she managed to make it to a position and shot toward a snake. In the background, she could hear a person yelling profanities at the large serpent, while another soldier’s gun ran empty. In the midst of reloading his weapon, the snake lunged forward and swallowed the soldier whole. The beast threw the man’s body up into the air and allowed the body to fly before landing inside of its mouth. On the ground, a sorrowful cry was heard and a woman could be seen falling to her knees. It was obvious that this person had meant something to her, but her sudden shock kept her from moving. Her wish of dying so she could see the eaten soldier came true when the serpent twisted its body and hit a car. The car ripped through the air and because of her lack of attention it landed on top of her. In all its fury, the snake roared at its adversaries.

The snake whirled its head around furiously. Eyes gazing at the overwhelming odds. Then another blast from one of the tanks missed and hit a tree, sending it in an explosion of splinters. Realizing the dangerous threat, the snake lashed out and grabbed it and attempted to do the same as it did with a person minutes ago, toss it up and eat it. It was strong enough to send the tank in mid flight but the nose end came down, barrel first, and the massive weight of the tank was strong enough to impale the beast's head and send it crashing down to the concrete road. Dumb luck. And to top it off, the cockpit door opened on the tank that delivered the final blow and some very queasy and injured soldiers fell out of the tank. Soldiers could be heard cheering, some of them rushed to the aid of injured comrades. At the top of the hill the captain could be seen standing alone, looking down at Vicky, the child, and the man. He merely shook his head as he began descending the hill, not intending to talk to the three, he was going to his men to order that they will be leaving. He removed his radio as he approached the dead Basilisk. "Guys, we're leaving. We'll call in to the ship by morning." A radio nearby Vicky shouted out the order. The captain knelt down by the beast and removed a knife, carefully cutting around the gums to remove the unusually large fang. A souvenir? Proof that it was dead? A convoy road up of jeeps and APCs. The final working tank road up at the rear of them. Pretty soon, troops began loading into the vehicles. The captain stood in the middle of the road, watching them load in, his back to Vicky and her group.

She fought until she ran out of bullets and so did the nameless man who had accompanied her. The familiar sound of an empty gun almost made her panic but then she saw the serpent complete a massive error. Before she could react properly, the snake managed to skewer its head with a tank’s barrel. Surprised at how the thing had died she was at first speechless, but as soon as reality took hold, she approached the captain.
“Don’t leave us here!” We have someone dying!” She called out to the captain and then stopped some feet from him. “She worked with ARC and I think she was a doctor.” With his back turned, she couldn’t tell if the captain was convinced or not. “Her name was Amanda…Amanda something…” It was then that the captain spoke up and asked her a question. “Masters?” Vicky repeated his question and nodded. “Yeah. Amanda Masters. That was her name.”

The captain stood with his back to the woman who spoke. He listened to her plea for another person's life. Talking how she was a doctor in ARC and then fumbled with her name... wait... What did she say? Amanda? "Masters?" The captain finally said, his head gazing slightly over his shoulder. The woman seemed to confirm and then the little boy walked beside the woman and spoke up next. "You know Amanda?" The captain didn't reply, he turned his head away from them and touched his mask. "Jeremy, come out here." He spoke into the radio then looked over his shoulder. "Give your weapons to Jeremy, then I'll let you on board and take you as far as your encampment and collect Amanda." The woman didn't pitch a fuss. Jeremy came out and collected the weapons. The man was okay if Vicky was okay with it and Vincent would allow it if it meant saving Amanda. They were hearded onto an APC with other soldiers. A few were rejoicing in the victory, a few were tired and likely remembering the men who died there. One of them knew what happened with their buddy in the apc and eyed the three grudgingly. Radios blared with rejoice from other vehicles. The convoy was quite large, larger than Vicky and them thought could be hidden. These guys were definitely good at their job, or had a good leader... Hours later they approached the town who let someone run out with a white flag. The convoy halted and the captain ordered that Vicky and her group get let out to ease the town and let some of their guys in to collect Amanda. Whatever Vicky told them worked and a team went in to collect Amanda, the captain himself had followed. Marcus had come out to greet. "Greetings Mr...?" The captain shook his head. "Oh, well, it's nice to meet ya anyway, I'm Marcus." The captain gave a nod. "Where's Amanda?" Marcus pointed at their little hospital area. His team, who were carrying a casualty bed, moved quickly to the building and began retrieval of the woman. Vincent ran in after. "Wait! You can't take her without taking me and Emily!" The captain nodded. "I'll take the girl... But you... You're not human... what are you doing here?" He said it so casually. How long had he known this? "They're... Important..." Vincent mumbled, Emily was nearby. He had already given her a warming hug. The captain cocked his head and then nodded. "Fine, but since you were with that woman you wont get a gun." "Fine, no problem." Vincent said with his hands raised. The captain watched as his team passed with Amanda on the bed, yep. She was Jay's daughter. The kids followed after. Before leaving, the captain turned to the curious town who all had come out to watch. Taking in a breath he started. "Any of you! If you want to fight! If you want to win against these bastards! Follow me now! We will train you! We will teach you! And together we will protect each other!" Despite the distortion from the mask, he was passionate. Much of the townfolk were taken aback by the sudden call to arms. Marcus shook his head and began walking forward. "Now wait just a minute, you can't barge in here and suddenly recruit people in my town." The captain turned to him. "You would imprison your people here and wait for someone or something to come by and incinerate this place to the ground with "your" people in it?" Marcus was silent and the captain shouted again. "That's right! You're all doomed here. We will take your whole family with us. Children will be taught, women will learn to fight and defend themselves and their children, the men will fight and win alongside me! Choose now because this choice will not come to you again!" It was then that people began whispering amongst themselves, to their family. Then three people stepped forward, their family behind them. "Get on the back APC." The captain said and waited for more. Another man stepped out to follow the three families. It was then that Elenore, Marcus' wife stepped forward. "Elenore?" "Come with me Marcus..." She said. "It's my duty to protect the people that stay. Stay with me... Please?" Elenore took a deep breath, a tear sliding down her cheek. "You have to choose what's more important... Me and your child or these people?" He didn't even slow to think. "But It's my duty..." Without another word Elenore walked away, towards Vicky and tried to get her to join her, but Vicky said something about tension and the captain. What did she do? It didn't matter. Taking a deep breath, the woman walked off toward the APC. When he was sure that nobody else would join them, the captain left for the medical truck where Jillian was. There were two medics and a doctor inside, the two kids were sitting at the edge to the side, Vincent's head was propped on Emily's shoulder, he appeared to be sleeping. "Can you help her?" "Yeah... We'll need to get to the ship, first." As the convoy left, Marcus could be heard shouting to them. "Elenore, Wait!!! I choose you Elenore!!! ELENORE!!!!" The convoy did not stop...
Hours more passed until they got to the pier. Amanda had not regained consciousness. She was hurried to the ferry. The families and soldiers piled on not long after, the townspeople were confused but trusting. The pregnant Elenore was still distraught. The ferry took them all the way to the large ship out in the sea. Once aboard there were many more soldiers talking amongst themselves. Amanda was hurried to the medical bay. The doctor was quick to find out what was wrong and he prepped her for surgery.
It had been a whole day. The doctor had been done for at least 6 hours. The operation was a success. The ship rocked ever so slightly as the waves pushed against the ship. They were out in the Atlantic. It was night. The surgery hadn't been so extensive to where Amanda had to be bed ridden, and it turns out that she could speak quite easily, though it may be a little scratchy. Every few hours the captain would come in to see how the surgery was or see if she would regain consciousness. He hadn't slept yet, the kids were taken to a room of their own. There was a lot of space on this ship, at least 20 rooms available. If only the rest of the town came.

The first she saw were bright lights and soon she was fully awake. Amanda felt aches here and there but she could breathe for the most part. Slowly re-buttoning the new and rather large polo, she thought to herself that leaving it unbuttoned was barely appropriate even if it did only show the bandages. Not wasting any more time in bed she got up while tucking in the oversized shirt and looked around. “Simple.” She commented, seeing that the medical bay wasn’t anything better than the normal pre-infection bays. Normally she would have taken the time to explore, but instead she reached for the smokes, usually located in her front pocket, and frowned once she realized that she no longer had them.
It probably wasn’t something to fret over especially with her recent brush with death, but it would take time for her habit to die. Sighing, she sat on top of the bed she had found herself in at the beginning and waited for whomever she was supposed to ‘thank’ her life for. Amanda wasn’t the type of person to say thank you, but after a few rocks of the ship from side to side she felt that she was far away from anywhere to run to, so she didn’t think she had another choice.
Sitting there wasn’t the most productive of things, but Amanda amused herself with various thoughts and plans about interesting things that a person like her would think of. Her amusement killed enough time and when she noticed the two people entered the room, she thought that the time that had lapsed was only a few minutes. One, she suspected was the doctor, and from what she gathered, the other was some captain or a leading authoritative figure of some sort. First, over all, she wanted to know where she was and why had they saved her. Of course, she probably already knew, vaguely at the least, the answer to both questions, but there was no harm in amusement. Perhaps they’d even introduce themselves.
When the two entered the room, Amanda simply stared at them and raised a brow, acknowledging their presence. “Hello, Dr. Masters, you’re awake.” Said the doctor and Amanda continued her silence. “That’s good, but I don’t believe that you should be up and about.” The nameless woman doctor held a clipboard and kept her own stare at it, keeping strictly professional, as how Amanda would put it. The doctor approached and Amanda allowed a checkup. As soon that was done, the doctor left the Captain and Amanda in the room. “Hello.” Amanda finally said.

The captain quietly followed the doctor who was explaining that it could be another day that she'd be out. The captain just nodded and then the woman opened the metallic door and stepped in, surprised to see the woman awake. The doctor spoke and Amanda didn't. The captain leaned against the wall and folded his arms until the doctor finished up with the examination and left. Amanda was the first to greet. The captain just stared for a few, the mask portraying no emotion. Finally he spoke. "Where were you going?" He asked bluntly. "Someone like you wouldn't just settle down in a small community. Where were you going?" His voice was just as emotionless as his mask. He was neither comforting nor aggressive, blunt maybe. The only weapon he was armed with seemed to be an old peacekeeper revolver. In fact it looked so old that it was probably unusable.

For moments Amanda stared back at the captain and when he asked the question she almost smiled. For now she was faced with an emotionless but rather blunt captain, and it reminded her a little bit of the ARC HQ that she had grown up in. Information gathering and business had been the main goal back then and now, she guessed that it was still the same for the world. Amanda didn’t care all that much at the moment, so she guessed that she could answer truthfully for the most part.
“Away.” She responded and adjusted the way she was sitting. “For once, I was in the moment of planning, but I do have places to go and things to do.” Amanda paused and saw the man’s interesting choice of weapon. “If I had any more luck…” Again, she paused, but this time it was because she thought that the word luck was a funny one. “I would have continued on.” Amanda didn’t believe in luck.
Moving on from his question, she decided to ask a few of her own. “One of the few who seem to know. Have we met?” While she waited for an answer, she realized that she really didn’t need that information. “You don’t need to answer that… What is it that you want or need...assuming there is a reason for you and your allies to have…saved me.” She decided that this question was a lot more appropriate than the last. Unlike others, she didn’t seem bothered by the fact that she didn’t know the person behind the mask. For now, it wasn’t important.

The captain stood patiently as she answered to the best of her ability. Then she asked if they had met, he waited a second and she assumed he wouldn't answer but he responded with a simple. "Yes." He didn't give any details and she didn't seem to care that he hadn't. She then countered with yet another question, this question was a good one. "Many reasons. I'll start with the first. We recovered a case in the ARC APC the day the town members met me. I'm assuming it's yours. What's in it?" Some members of the group had attempted to carefully open the case earlier but failed, it began to make some of the crew feel uneasy, they were aware of ARC and their dark deeds. "Is it potentially dangerous?" This was the more important question he wanted to know. If not then he couldn't give a shit what was actually in it unless it was dangerous.

“Important things.” She told him. “I have no doubt that you can protect yourself, but it’s better if you didn’t know…and yes, it is dangerous. Better not to tell your…crew…this.” Amanda pushed herself onto the bed so she could sit better. “It is dangerous, but if it isn’t opened then there won’t be a problem. There are certain procedures in handling the contents.” She gave a slight smile. “I did work with ARC…” And that was all she was going to tell the captain. That was all he needed to know. For a time it was quiet and it seemed like they were stuck in a long staring contest. “So…” She coughed a bit, feeling an itch in her throat. “…What are the other reasons?” Keeping her alive for that reason seemed unreasonable and even she knew that.

The captain listened to her talk about the case. It was dangerous but only if it stays sealed. He'll trust her with that information, if it was a weapon then it'd be used at one point. ARC were extremists but they know what side they're their on, even if some of their members aren't human... Like the boy. She then wanted to know the other reasons. "Second reason." He said right after she finished. "My team have recently picked up broadcasts saying you've been in the company of a mercenary named Meryl Anderson. She has information I need." He gave strange emphasis to the word I. "The third reason." He decided not to waste any more time. "You've been recruited. To settle your debt you're going to help us later to take down a very dangerous B.O.W. He parades around like he's a human, his name is Albert Wesker, I'm sure you're aware of that name." He turned his head slightly to the right. Foot steps could be heard out in the corridor but another door opening signaled that that person wasn't aiming for the med bay. He turned completely back to her, ready to answer questions that weren't laced in crap. Though he knew this woman's genes, she wouldn't fuck about.

“How unfortunate that you were the last to know.” She leaned back further. “Last report said that she was dead.” Amanda felt as if these reasons were quite stupid and wished that if those reasons were it then the conversation should end. Unfortunately for her, he had another reason and this one made a whole lot more sense to her. Now he was making an offer she couldn’t refuse. “Recruited?” Of course his choice of words were absolutely terrible, but her eyes lit up at Wesker’s name.
Amanda was about to respond, but like the captain, she grew quiet at the sound of the footsteps. What they were discussing seemed to be fit for only their ears and Amanda wasn’t exactly the type to enjoy extra company when it came to things like this. Once the captain turned back to her, she answered his proposal of sorts. “I’m quite aware of who he is… he has stolen important data from me…I will work with you.” But for a matter of how long, she didn’t specify.
“Terms of recruitment are up now. What is it that you need me to do to help you all?” Saying that left an odd taste in her mouth. She wasn’t terrible person one hundred percent of a time, but saying that made her feel weird. She didn’t show it on her

The captain was quiet again as he listened to her quickly jump on the idea. That was easier than expected but she did say that he, no it, had stolen important data. The captain wasn't about to ask about that data. That was between her and it. She then wanted specifics. "With you here we will be able to create another virus. My job is to get a sample of his blood and your job is to make it mutate." He finally pushed himself away from the wall. "In his current state, Wesker is fast, strong, and smart. He also has an army, human from what I'm aware of. When the virus is created me or somebody else will be in charge of getting it into him somehow. If we can get him to mutate then he'll grow in one of those areas and lose in another. Speed and strength don't go well without intelligence, strength and intelligence don't go well if he can move for shit. You get the idea." He paused again, another person in the corridor, this one passed by, a shadow could briefly be seen under the door. When it was clear, the captain continued. "This is just a base plan. Approaching a B.O.W. of his caliber requires months of careful planning. With you here we may be able to do it sooner than we thought." He decided that he would show the woman a little more respect and remove his mask and under it, the balaclava. He had bright blue eyes and short black hair. He was in his mid 30's, his face made him look like he was in his 20s. If there weren't a sense of coldness behind his demeanor, he'd be the perfect action movie star. "Let's put business aside for now. You must be hungry." His voice was slightly lighter than the mask allowed. "Follow the signs to the mess hall." He turned and paused but didn't look back. "They call me Captain GRIM. To you it's just GRIM." With that he left to do things captains do.

He explained what he wanted to happen and what he knew. While he talked, Amanda made no comment and waited after he left. It was clear to her that he meant business, but she also had her own agenda. “And how can you expect your plan to work?” She asked quietly and to no one in particular. “…Oh how little do you know…” She chuckled and shook her head. “GRIM…”
Not sure what else to do, Amanda walked around the med bay, looking for some personal items. Hidden in one of the many med bay compartments were her old ring and picture. They brought back memories to her, but unable to spare the time to go through them, she quickly stuffed them into her pocket and left the med bay.
It wasn’t good at all that she was up and about, but her mind was restless and she hated not doing anything with the time she had. Without much thought, she wandered around until she got to the deck of the ship. They were at sea and around her, there were guards. The guards on these ships now and days didn’t patrol for other people in ships. They patrolled for the undead, making sure that none of them climbed aboard from the sea. That was good, she thought for it meant that the ship was safe for the most part. “Damn…It’s painfully dull here.”

One of the guards creased a smile at the woman who walked out on the deck. She seemed bored, at least until she proved she was by saying it out loud. He walked up beside her. "Oh, you better love the boredom. You don't want to have fun out here. I seen it." The man was aged and probably senile but it was easy to see that he believes what he was saying. "I only seen its tentacle and that alone could reach half the size of the ol' Empire State buildin' in New York City." He said, making a very horrible model of the Empire State's size by spacing out his hands. "We call it Zeus, after the greek god of lightning. Why, you ask?" She obviously didn't but she was still looking at him so she must have been interested... even if a little. "Because as the ship passed it emitted an electrical current that fried the systems. It took us a week to get the thing workin' again. Also we noticed a wrecked ship just a day after we saw the monster. Not one survivor, even the ones who were able to get on something, they were fried like a juicy crab!" Whether she thought him mad or not, he didn't seem to care. He's been called mad about it quite a few times. But rumors of a sea monster have been spreading since pre-infection. It had started in the Pacific, it seems that this old timer was reporting out in the Atlantic. Quite a journey for a sea creature.
