Emmett shook his head from inside the cockpit. "Make up your mind.." He mumbled as he barrel rolled close to the surface and quickly dispatched the fleeting grunts with a few pounds of the heavy gattling rounds from the point of the boomer. The boomers had a very primative radar system due to the ships size, most pilots don't even use it as the range is too small to see things effectively at such speeds. Emmett quickly inspected the surroundings manually and found a couple turrets. The rounds tore through the turret and the gunner. Other than that, he was just idly killing until given an objective.

"Y-you're really going to employ me to fight them?" The woman seemed shocked. "No...no, I don't want to...I'm afraid." Though all soldiers were trained for front line combat, her comfort zone was being hidden and giving information. If properly armed, she could handle grunts, jackals...and maybe one elite...but not these. She can recall watching a pair of them take on a Scorpion...and win. And just how serious the precautions this Spartan was taking backed up her claim that these were as fierce as they came. The clinking of their solid alloy armor came audible, they were close. There wasn't much time for an internal conflict, but it was obvious this woman wasn't going to move without motivation. Mei sat back in the ghost, but she didn't start it. "I-I can't...If I'm caught by one of those..." her mind began to flash gruesome images of begin bashed by the shield, or even stepped on.

"I-I can't...If I'm caught by one of those..." "If i may interject, but did i give you permission to bitch about it? You are a Marine! You did not join our ranks to cower in the face of adversity! You have proven that you are on this Earth for no reason other than to be something greater. Again and again you have proven that. You passed bootcamp. I was there." he though back to his younger days back on Reach, let out a sigh, and stiffened back up. "You also have survived this long. And you know what? You're gonna prove it again. Besides, at least they will kill you quickly. If I hear you refuse my orders again, I'll make it a slow and painful one." he slid the SMG over to Mei along the ground, and took off running. "Emmett. I don't give a crap what you're doing right now. I need heavy covering fire. Now. Grid 68-E. East of the New Mombai Expressway."

The boomer was stalking a lone shaky grunt when the radio came in. "Eep..." The grunt murmered as the boomer was increasing ever closer to where it was. It found itself int he corner then just as it thought it was certainly its impending doom the boomer looped around with a barrel roll to fly quickly into the opposite direction. Emmett didn't even need to squint to see what it was. "Eh Matt, ya got a duet of hunters." He reported in, not knowing they already knew until he realized the idea of being called for cover fire. "Oh... Well... I can try to keep them distracted but if their plasma hits me I don't think the ship will take it." He said as he swooped in low yet again. 'Not even these large gattling shells will peirce that shield... here goes nothing..' He thought to himself as he fired at them to gain their attention. It worked..

Mei wasn't sure if she was more afraid of the Hunters or the Spartan now. But she had no choice, she figured she'd die either way, so why not take the quick one? "....yes, sir..." she said quietly, before starting the hovercraft back up. "Lead the way..."
The heavy armored aliens lumbered towards the two grounded units, getting ready to engage. But a sudden rain of metal caught them off guard. An airborne target. Pests. The first one charged up it's cannon, and made a half hearted shot at the aircraft. The shot didn't even come close, simply colliding with the side of a building. The other entered a battle stance, staring at the two ground targets.
Mei turned the cannons on it, firing dual heated plasma. The heated shots only collided with the alloy shield, and the bolts were sent ricocheting, going in erratic patterns. Several were sent upward, in Emmett's direction, while some came back to meet them. Heated plama connected with the front of the Ghost, while one grazed Mei's shoulder, giving her a nice little burn. "Damn it...these thing are equipped for everything!" she shouted frustrated.

"Hold fire!" Matthew shouted to Mei, who seemed dazed at the fact the shield didn't give way. He ran over and pulled her out. "Looks like the old fashioned way it is. I hope you picked up that damn gun." He stood, legs apart and bent at the knees, almost looking like he was about to take the train that was the hunter. He picked up the radio and complimented Emmett on "a job well done...for now", and put a hand on his grenade belt. "Mei! move in! we're still in firing range!" The monstrosity's head drew into it's armor, and it's arms bent at the elbows. "Mei, when i say so, roll to the left, and aim at the orange? you see it there? between the armor?" He continued to put pressure on her shoulder, tempting her to run away.

This was all so overwhelming. There was actually a certain way to take these things down? So spray wouldn't work it seemed. She winced as the Cyan clad man yanked her from the hovercraft. When he commented about the smg, she nodded and showed it to him. She was obedient right now though, and felt a bit safer, know this soldier knew what he was doing. Hearing his instructions, she nodded and waited for his command.
The first hunter, the one not focused on Mei and Matthew, charged it's arm cannon again, this time wanting to aim for the Boomerang. It's cannon didn't have much range, and it's arced nearly immediately after being fired, so it would need to be real lucky to hit this target.

Suddenly a random plasma hit the ship but was only strong enough to take down the shields. "The shit was that?" He called, the radio in the cockpit was always on due to the extreme hassle of turning it off and on while in flight. "I don't think it's just them down there, I got hit by a plasma they don't own." He mumbled, not knowing it was actually a friendly fire. "I'm making another pass!" He called and swooped around. He was now heading in a straight line towards them. Before he knew it the beam was charged and firing, hitting the wing of the boomer. "Crap! I'm going down, brace yourselves!" He said as he readjusted the crashing course at one of the hunters. When he was close enough he ejected He was soaring in the air and hit the ground, his armor easilly sustained the fall. The boomer meanwhile crashed straight into the hunter that hit him, whether it was dead or not was unknown, those things could take a beating. Wasting no time, Emmett sought cover. He turned on his radio to the allied line. "Damn! The damages don't look too bad, should take me a day to repair the ship... I hope.." He mumbled. It didn't explode on impact and just took heavy exterior damage, should be simple to fix. The wing will be the most problem. "Well.. Now it's 3 on two.. Or one.. I dunno if I hit the other." He called through. Emmett was on the opposite side, the hunter(s) were now being pincered.

The air gained a somber quality, taking on a deathly silence. The boomer went down, and at the very least, stunned the other hunter. The monster facing Mei and Matthew let out a bellowing grunt, lifted it's left leg, and threw his body forward, like a massive boulder. It gained speed and momentum. The pair continued to stand still, however unwillingly it may have been. The beast lifted it's right arm high above it's head, a hammer from the gods themselves. "NOW!" Matthew pushed off with his left foot, landed on his shoulder, and tumbled, bringing Mei most of the way there. On his back, he readied a frag grenade. By his opposite shoulder, it was primed. His knees hit the ground with a metallic thud and he whipped his body around, throwing the grenade. It sunk deep into the hunter's interior, the wriggling mass of eels. "FIRE! NOW!" he pulled out his plasma rifle and joined the volley, focussed on the monstrosity's lower back.

"Stupid jackal! On your knees! I am Arbiter Grunt!" The silvery grunt kicked the reptilian alien's shin, and walked along. The dropship descended, revealing a grey and purple platform. Strewn about were Violet capsules, corpses, and a many Flood parasites. "AAAHHHHHHH!" A red grunt ran to the bow of the mighty ship, tripped, and on a lever, and opened the doors. "Stupid grunt! Jackals! GO! Our Grunty power is best reserved until later." A few elites threw them out there one by one, and soon they were all part of the fray. Arbiter grunt, fist clenched, scowling, in a fighting stance, witnessed a grunt running around with a parasite attached to his head. "Not again! NO!!!!!!!!" Arbiter Grunt took pity on this warrior by handing him his needler (a smile emerged on the other's face) and running behind his squad. He leaped for cover, and laid flat against a silver patch of ground. An elite walked up and took his grenades, and a Jackal kicked him. 30 grunty minutes later, and no sound was coming from the scene a few feet ahead of him. Like an ostrich, he raised his head above the ground, and counted survivors. "Eight. GET IN THE SHIP! That wasn't so bad, was it! You need to fight better! FOR THE GLORY OF THE PROPHETS!"

Mei heeded the order, and took some time to aim for the grenade. After feeling confident, she let on the trigger, and the bullets were expelled. Orange blood flew from the exposed back, seeming to just go around the grenade several time...until the explosion came. She heard the hunter make a dying sound, before falling forward, not moving.
The first hunter caught sight of this, and instantly...went berserk. It slammed its shield into the ground, leaving a nice little crater, and pushed itself up using it. Eyes focused on the cyan Spartan, he drew it's head in and charged, going at a much faster speed than normal.

"My sensors indicate a bogey heading to your rear." A voice sounded in Emmett's helmet. Emmett glanced to his side and just there a jackal attacked him but was immediately thrown into a wall then shot in the head. "The hunter is moving." The voice responded again. It was too late, the hunter was already in range of Matt and the female he was escorting. Emmett got his gun ready but didn't trust the accuracy of the smg and feared hitting the woman. He cursed silently.

"Emmett get your ass over here!" The cyan spartan rolled to the side. "Mei don't fucking aim! just shoot! we can't-" another lucky dodge. "-Pull off a stunt like that again." he unleashed a volley of plasma bolts to the monster's neck, causing it to stiffen up, and flip around, rushing before it was even faced straight. Matt hopped over the still-idling host, and the hunter tossed it aside like it wasn't even there. "I hope you two are shooting!" he made a sharp turn and ran towards the rest of his "team", if you could call it that. Looking over his shoulder, he misstepped and lost all his momentum stepping on a rock face facing himself. The sun darkened and Matt switched shoulders to see what happened. The shield missed him completely, but the fist of the tyrant accidentally found it's mark, sending the spartan into a spiral through the air, neck leading the body. With a sickening thump, his body hit the ground, a slow webbed fracture wove through the bronze visor. the spider that made it kept running though his pray was helpless. Matt couldn't see anything, but he shot until the battery overheated and threw the near-spent plasma rifle away. "It's been an honor serving with you both." he primed his last grenade and waited for the big bastard to blow himself up. "Thank you for a good day."

"Wait, sir!" Mei called from behind. "There must be a more rational reason than suicide bombing!" She studied the firearms at her disposal, than the hunter who had entered it's defensive stand, shield up and neck tucked in. Perhaps...coaxing it into attacking would give them their chance. It was her turn to play hero, as she fired to shot from the SMG into the head plate of the hive working as one. Mei back herself into a wall, before firing again.
The hunter wasn't getting hurt by this, no. It was just getting further agitated, as it completely disregarded Matthew now, and focused everything on the marine. It didn't feel it was time to use the arm cannon right now, as it was still in melee range. Deciding to do so, it entered a charge stance, and let loose. Mei quickly dashed to the right, and the hunter's shield embedded itself into the solid concrete behind her. Blasting the rest of her clip into the visible orange that was the back of it's neck. "That's right!" She shouted aloud, to it seemed the hunter.
The jackal had taken part on this little raid, lead by the "arbiter Grunt." He's seen all he had done, was very far from impressed. Then the grunt had the audacity to gloat. It was time for this reptile to have some fun again. He stuck his claw into his mouth, and acted like he was sharpening one of the nails. When he felt it nice enough, he stuck it into the already patched hole of the air tank, once finished, he stepped back, and began counting down on his fingers. It reached "one", and he signaled "watch this".

Hearing the report on the radio a laugh replied back. "Only been here for 10 minutes and already am about to assume command." He said jokingly. 'Guy's retarded. It's not worth suiciding over one beast, especially for the sake for a marine. She'll prolly get killed right after you kill yourself. Don't waste your damn skill.' Emmett thought to himself but didn't decide to make it into words. Emmett caught sight of a sniper rifle under the dead jackal he had just dispatched. "Not very good with rifles but hey, always a good day to learn." He murmered as he picked it up and aimed. He noticed the woman do something extremely brave then saw her attack it. "Damn, she's got more heat than I gave her credit for." He accidentally said aloud as the transmission came through the radio. Emmett didn't seem to care as he got his senses together and began firing the rifle at the orange spot. He didn't miss a whole lot, spartans were trained for this.

The orange alien continued to charge Matthew, having no mercy for it's prey. He looked at the small green sphere in his hands, and eyes closed, shot it forward, towards where it's head used to be. In the perfect throw to sneak under the hive's head and end it quickly. Fully expecting to get trampled, He rolled off to the side and opened his eyes. The beast turned, leaving the grenade to bounce off it's shield, and into the dust. Matthew looked as it made a wide turn away and made for the small target named Mei. He attempted to get up, stumbled, andlip into the back of the hunter and a well-placed beam rifle shot whizzed past his head. rescued himself by running on all-fours momentarily. The Asian woman was still emptying clip after clip into the hunter's back and a beam rifle bolt whizzed past his head. "Wow. That's gotta be at least 30 meters." he mused as he jogged past what used to be a ghost. As the behemoth collapsed, arm breaking loose from the wall in poetic irony, Matthew got to the corpse and the woman. He was probably just as shaken as she was, but the visor shut that away. he kicked an eel that was still twitching, causing a gush of orange bloot to envelope his boot. "If there is a god...." was all he could mutter, before taking a good look at the marine, Emmett, and a hand that held a grenade. He saluted Mei with a weak arm, and began walking towards his nav-point. the squad would be waiting. "Emmett. Give the nice lady the gun."
