Planet Xolium, 1600 hours:
A small human colony did what they had to. Three people stood out in a field of nighleaf, a highly toxic plant life easy to produce on Xolium, it's toxic but if used right it can be an important ingredient in the creation in medigel. (Fast acting healing gel) One of the men bent down and cut a piece of the small, purple plant and placed its leaves into a basket. It was a hot day, had to be, their sun was a red giant but plant life are still able grow. The nighleaf farmer bent down to collect another bit of leaves when the bright ground below him turned dark. The man brought his gaze curiously up and the sun seemed to have just vanished into a bit of darkness. Then there were small lights coming from the darkness. The other farmers were noted to this presence and they gazed up curiously. Suddenly the lights grew bigger and bigger until they collided with the ground sending shockwaved explosions. People screamed and what little planetary guard they had moved to defend the world, outside scouts and military ships moved in to assist. The unknown species had touched down and the armored opponents left their ships and began firing at anybody they saw. They were slaughtered. Some colonists were able to make it to military ships for evacuation. The strange race did not pursue them.
~~~~~~~~~
A large room was set in the councilors' atrium. Overseeing a large extending platform was a ledge. On the ledge were six figures. These six figures were the council representatives of the main council species. There were two figures on the platform facing the council, they were human, both male. "We demand action! One of our colonies have been laid to ruin and you all stand there dragging your heels!" The dark skinned, well dressed male exclaimed. "Ambassador," The Asari councilor, Shara, started. "Please try to understand that this attack certainly concerns us, but if we move a fleet many non-council races could assume it will be a galactic expansion and will react aggressively. We don't want to have a galactic conflict." "Yes, with all due respect, ambassador, small human colonies are not worth a war to the galactic scale." The Korin councilor, Al-Kunien, interceded. "This is bull!" The ambassador shouted. "Every time humanity is in trouble you turn a blind eye!"
A grin appeared in a wisp of smoke and suddenly council robes rose from the ground. "Hehehe..." Laughter echoed through the council room and finally a Gintunah materialized in the robes. "Silly humans. Dying is a natural part of the cycle of life and so is fighting and war...Our eyes have seen your history...Hehehe... I cannot say that it is peaceful..." The Gintunah paused and then placed what seemed to be a finger on where its lips would have been. "Your kind does well with dying and surviving through anything... I'm sure you'll be able to handle this situation... Heheh... You did well against the Korin... Oh yes...Very well...So much death, mind you..." Gosth, the Gintunah councilor, finished and its facial expressions disappeared into smoke.
Just as the Gintunah finished, a scraping sound was heard from the ledge and the Sanvillnus councilor stepped forward. With one of its poisonous fingers it wrote its thoughts on the a blue colored scale. When it finished, it turned to the Atheed and brushed its spiky tail against the Atheed's claws. With a booming voice, the Atheed councilor read the Sanvillnus' thoughts. "Seilven's thoughts of the matter... Seilven says that moving a council could start a galactic conflict, but with all due respect, you are all thinking too largely..." Seilven took back the scale and began writing again, but then she erased it. She wrote and erased again and again, until the scale turned red with frustration. Finally, the Sanvillnus came to a decsion and she passed it back to the Atheed. "We should think on a smaller scale... Send someone to see the problem. A ship or two. Scouts perhaps. Nothing large..." Seilven took it back once more and erased. She rewrote something and then handed it back. "A mission to see what is happening, but we must keep it silent. We don't want panic."
The Atheed carefully handed back the scale and then he stood up from his sitting position. He rose up to about 8 feet, but it was obvious that he could have chosen to be bigger. "I, Dethon, agree with Seilven. If we are truly facing a threat...then I'd like to know about what we are up against. I would like to know everything about this potential enemy... If war is to come, we should have the upper hand."
The three other councilors gave their opinions. Feeling that he had to contribute the Wobba councilor spoke up. "Idelcrass Kidanajanandro agrees!" He stated in the third person. "However! We cannot let whoever is sent on this mission do it to profit their own species." "You don't mean!" Al-Kunien exclaimed. Idelcrass held his hand out to pause him. "Please do not interrupt! We should not send just humans nor can they be thwarted by their own command!"
Shara knew what the Wobba was speaking of. "I agree. We can allow politicians to push these agents to make moves that will stray them from their objective. This group will be under our direct command." The human ambassador spoke up. "Just a small task force? These invaders took over a who-" The second man stepped forward. "Ma'am, councilors." The man greeted the six. "It was a human colony that was attacked. Please, allow us the honor of putting a human in command of the force." Shara looked to her companions. Idelcrass was nodding in agreement. The Korin had a forlorn expression, well, as forlorn as their faces could get. The other three had not long ago spoken in defense of the humans and their expressions (Or scale) seemed to be in the positive to the idea. "We will allow it. Go now and spend some days finding a suitable leader. Return to us at levien (10 human days). We will contact the other races and allow them to select those who will aid. This meeting, is adjourned." With that, the council dispersed. The ambassador dispersed to speak with his high military command.
~~~~~~~~
Four men sat in a circle. One was the ambassador, the other was the man who had stood up to speak when the ambassador was losing his temper, this man was Admiral James Cross. Another one was a Ground General Fritz Ward. The final man was the oldest of the group. A cigarette sat lit in his lips and his aged blue eyes looked at the others. "What about.." The elderly man stated. "Commander Tara Page." The ambassador cocked an eyebrow and Cross was quick to explain. "She grew up in a colony on corfix, somewhere in the Alneva constellation. Her father served with the fleet and grew up to the rank of Captain, a highly decorated officer until his betrothed died. The poor man drank himself to death." "How did she die?" Ward asked curiously. "Slavers." No more was needed to be said about it, Ward didn't want the details. Ambassador Palin moved forward. "Why take her?" "The Skravellian Push. She held the line back single-handedly until reinforcements could arrive. The only reason Eden is still standing is because of her." "That was her?" The other man nodded along with the elderly gentleman. "Well.. We can't question her courage... I'll make the call."
(The Skravellian Push was a major offensive unleashed by many pirate and slaver groups that tried to sweep and pillage a large human colony on a small planet called Eden.)

Ten days later three people were moving across the platform. The two was Ambassador Palin and Admiral Cross. Traling a foot behind the two was a female. Her armor was standard issue Alliance Navy with their insignia "N7" logo on it. It was dark-silver except for a thick red line that ran down from her right shoulder to her right hand. She wore no helmet, revealing her dark auburn hair, which lengthened a little above her shoulders, and green eyes. Just a month ago was her 29th birthday, though she didn't bother to celebrate.
The three reached the circle of the platform and the female placed her hands behind her back. She looked upon the council members. This was her first trip to Altou, the Council's artificial world. Shara spoke up. "Welcome Commander Page. You have been selected to lead a very important investigation. One that will disconnect the ties and restrains of the Alliance protocol." She paused. "Please, step forward." The two men stepped aside and the commander stepped forward and was the center of attention now. "From here on forward you will be a part of the council. We have agreed to the creation of a new elite system that we will call Paradigm. We have sent out this decree and you will have access to special equipment and will not be bound by all laws. This is a great honor commander and how you act will reflect our views on this operation." Page bowed her head. "Thank you." She merely said. "I assume I will be departing on my first mission as soon as possible?" She asked. "Yes!" Idelcrass spoke up. Shara nodded. "Your missionis to investigate the attack on the human planet Xolium. Track down those involved and learn of their ultimate intentions. I wish you luck, commander."
The council dispersed and the three humans left the platform. Palin spoke up. "Well, commander, the council has told me to inform you that your new crew is in a bar in the north-quarum. Take the transit system to get there." Cross spoke next. "And Page. Don't forget what color your blood is. The council never said you were not part of the Alliance anymore. You don't take orders from us but don't forget who we are." Page nodded. "Don't worry. I won't abandon humanity." She said with a half-smirk. Palin spoke up again. "Just don't forget that your actions will judge humanity as a whole, have a good presence commander." The man shook her hand and the admiral saluted while she did the same. Minutes later she was off to find the transit so she could meet her crew.

In the shadows, sat a creature in a crouching position. Its cat-like eyes glowed in a topaz color as it waited for its pray to pass. "Hey...so there's this rumor around..." The first guard passed the corner and the second was quick to follow. "Oh yeah...something about the council doing something for the alliance." The creature grinned and slowly poked its head from the shadows, revealing short,untidy dark brown hair and slightly tanned skin. "Ha!" It watched the backs of the guards and then moved back into the shadows as they turned the corner. "You mean the humans?!"
A sigh escaped the creature's lips and then it adjusted its goggles. "Humans aren't so bad..." The creature said. "I got the face of one...Cute things that fucking God made." The guards' voices grew quieter and the creature took it as a signal. A dark blur jumped out of the shadows and quickly climbed up the side of a building. It stopped at a ledge and carefully, with catlike movements, it made it to the other side. It crouched again and this time watched from above.
"Noisy fellows..." It said to itself as the guards continued to yell and talk. Finally, the creature pulled out a bent cigarette from its vest's pocket, lit it, and inserted it between his lips. The guards below continued and talked, but when the creature lost its patience, it allowed the cigarrette to drop from its mouth. Its topaz eyes watched as the lit cancer stick fell and when it hit the floor, a small and quiet tap could be heard.
The two non-human guards turned to see an extinguished death stick on the ground and immediately they looked up at the ledge, but when they did nothing was there. "Hmm... Damn...Pollution. There's a reason why this kind of place was created...to get away from this thing." One of the guards said and the other nodded. "So.. let's continue our discussion..." The other guard said and the first guard nodded. They turned around and saw a figure turn the corner. It seemed to them that the thing was heading for the transit, but they weren't worried. Only people approved by the council were allowed on this planet...and if not, then the alarms would have gone off.
While the guards had turned their backs, the creature had skillfully stolen a gun and a new pack of cigarettes from them and when they turned, it made it to the corner with enough speed. "I'm late...How unfortunate..." It pulled off its goggles and placed it in one of his many pouches. The creature quickened its pace with its tail following closely behind it. "There...Hehehe." It found the way to the transit and got onto one of the many 'train cars.'
It found itself in the same car with a human, and at the human, it licked its lips. Oh yes, it was hungry, but still, the human looked delicious. Not in the edible way either. But as the creature continued to look on, it saw that the female human had rank and was apparently apart of the human Navy. It turned back to its dark gray and black Nileef's Special Forces uniform and then shook its head.
I'm special, the Nileef thought, but this one has rank...This won't do well...
But even though he thought in that way, the Nileef grinned and gained the courage to speak quickly. "Aeiel or Allen. Where might you be heading..." There was a pause in his speech. He was thinking of using miss or ma'am, but this one was probably into using 'ma'am'. "...ma'am?" He tried giving respect to this ranked officer and his tone of voice was certainly different from the tone he had been using earlier.

Took her a few but finally there was the transit system. Page entered the car and sat down in a seat near a window. There was only six seats in each car. three of them were empty. Two people sat together, an Asari leaned on another male human's shoulder. The door opened again and someone else sat down. The car began moving and Page looked in awe at the scene. The tunnel went up over the surface and she can see many parks. There was mostly metal and cement but they had placed in dirt, probably from other planets, and planted trees and pushes. It wasn't like Earth. Eart was dense and populated like this but everything looked like slums. 'Amazing place.' She thought to herself and turned her head. At the corner of the eye she saw that the last enterer was watching her. It was a Nileef and it looked intrigued. 'This cat isn't going to hump my leg now, right?' She asked herself mentally, wanting to say it out loud but refrained from doing it.
"Aeiel or Allen. Where might you be heading..." A voice came near her. She finally turned to the Nileef and when she did he added "...Ma'am?" She took a breath and decided to introduce herself. "Commander Tara Page, Alliance Navy. May I ask why you want to know my destination?" She didn't sound defensive or threatening, rather curious.

"Commander Tara Page, Alliance Navy. May I ask why you want to know of my destination?" Aeiel cocked his eyebrow and turned back to the Commander. "It seems that you are heading to a place of importance, but in short, it's curiosity." His tail brushed against the seat next to the woman and Aeiel grabbed hold of a pole. He didn't want to fall even though he had great balance. "Hmm..." He blinked and looked down at the woman. "I do know the phrase...Curiosity killed the cat, but... my kind...We aren't as bad as those earth species."
He turned away from the woman and looked out of the windows. "I can also tell that you don't see me in the same light you use with others...But it can't be helped... We don't have the same 'feats' as the humans do..." Aeiel shook his head. No, he wasn't trying to offend her. He was just saying that being seen in such a way was normal for him. The Nileef did some good things, like the humans, but it was obvious that the Nileef would be seen as the whores of the galaxy for a long time.

Page listened to the man and grabbed on to the pole beside her so she could be the same level as him. "Don't worry. I've had brushes with Nileefs and Earth's ordinary house cats." She looked out the window then back at him. "And it's not that you're a Nileef that I don't trust you. It's that I just don't know you." She turned to the front of the car. The two lovers seemed to be minding their own business. Page turned yet again to the man and noticed his uniform. "I see you're military as well. I've seen your uniform in the attack of Adel. Judging by the few of you wearing that uniform you must be Nileef's special forces, right?"

Aeiel smiled at the commander and continued to listen to her. "And it's not that you're a Nileef that I don't trust you. It's that I just don't know you." She turned away and he nodded his head. It was nice to know that humans were a lot more kinder, in general, than other species. He stood silently and adjusted his glove a bit before the woman turned back at him. When she turned back, she pointed out his uniform. "I see you're military as well." "Yes." She continued on and Aeiel listened politely. "I've seen your uniform in the attack of Adel." "That is correct." "Judging by the few of you wearing that uniform...you must be Nileef's special forces, right?"
He nodded at her. "At that attack...our government and leadership was still a bit unstable...but Nileef council allowed our group to assist in that operation... I'm glad to have been able to help. One day I hope to have someone who will properly represent the Nileef." Even through he was born because of a Nileef and a human, Aeiel was raised on a Nileef dominated planet. He knew the Nileef culture and the Nileef way of life, but he had also been exposed to Human ways. Out of all the human ways, he hated religion the most. He thought that those set of beliefs were rubish and full of bullshit.

Page listened to the man speak about his council and nodded. "Yours and our species both." She said after his rap on his Nileef's politicians. "I... I don't much care. I'm a soldier, not a politician." She glanced a smile to him and the tram slowed to a halt. The door slid open and a female voice on the intercom concluded that this was the north-quarem. Page exited the car and the Nileef seemed to do so as well. Page turned and held out her hand to shake. "It was a pleasure meeting you Aeiel. Perhaps we'll meet again soon, eh?" She turned and walked away. Little did she know she was going to opposite direction of where she had to go. Luckily for her there were VI's placed around the blocks to help with these situations.
She was alone now and contacted the VI. The interface was made to look like an Asari, no problem in that. Within minutes she was given her directions and she made her way to the bar. Upon entering she saw quite a few species in there sitting, some talking, some drinking, some being uncomfortable with the variety of species in there. Page was looking for any Korins, there was one, by him was a human talking casually with the grey humanoid. Page stood there for a second and thought. Should she address them all now? She better make this strong or working with them will be too difficult.
Page stepped up on a chair, a Wobba cocked an eyebrow from his own seat as the woman proceeded to place her feet on the table. "Everyone." She demanded and the room went quiet and turned to her. "I am Commander Tara Page, Alliance Navy. As you all have no doubt been briefed we have a very important mission ahead of us and I was chosen to lead you through it. I see it on most of your faces, you're all uneasy, untrusting because different species were forced to work together so suddenly but I will not have such thoughts linger in your minds for long. From today forth I am no longer Alliance military, from today forth you all are not Asarian military, Korin military, Nileef military, and so on... Today we are Council Paradigms. We are our own army. Do not look at you old careers and see those you worked with as partner, but as allies. Look at the people in this room, these are your partners, your compatriots, your first and last hope in the battles ahead." She paused for a second and her eyes turned into a glare. "If there's any of you who disagree with these terms, speak up now because I don't want you on my ship." She paused for a few seconds and everyone was silent. When it seemed that no one would step forward, page crouched and looked to the bar right by the table. "'Tender?" She said and he passed her a glass of Wobban spirit. "Right, then today we drink and become acquaintances. Tomorrow we work and become partners." She raised her glass and everyone noticed it as a toast and did the same. Within seconds she took a big gulp out of the glass as did everyone else. She stepped down from the table and looked at them get back to their thoughts. Most everyone looked a lot lighter now, she didn't think it could be possible.

"I...I don't much care. I'm a soldier, not a politician." Aeiel smiled. "Oh... A soldier can only do so much..." She glanced a smile and them walked out. He followed after the woman. "It was a pleasure meeting you Aeiel. Perhaps we'll meet again soon, eh?" He shook her hand. "Well Journeys. I hope to meet you again as well." He nodded his head and saw her walk away. When she was gone from his sight, he turned and walked the opposite direction.
With speed, he quickly made it to the bar and when he entered, he noticed many species. Would these things be his partners? A frown came to his face and he sat in the far back. Some of them held 'holy items' for their set of beliefs. They prayed to God, or at times many Gods, for their lives and for almost everything. It was disgusting... Where would their damned God be when misfortune fell? A smirk replaced his frown. "Ha...No where." God was a lie and Aeiel was out to destroy their Gods. Destroy their lives of dreams. They needed reality and Lucy was all the reality they could get.
His thoughts continued to spiral in his head, but they were suddenly interrupted by a familiar voice. Aeiel's ear twitched a bit at the sound of the voice, but then he looked up. He saw the Commander from earlier and licked his lips. He would have meowed, but he kept himself silent.
"Everyone." The room went silent and she continued on. He listened to her voice, but none of the words. It didn't matter though, her little speech was finished quickly and ended with a toast. When they raised the glasses up, he quickly grabbed a glass from a Wobba without him seeing. Aeiel raised the glass quickly, took a sip, and then spat it out. The taste was horrible, but then again, he was a Nileef and the Nileef couldn't stand some things. "...I am tolerable to most things, but I suppose the Nileef truly cannot drink some things..."
When the toast was finished, Aeiel stood up and began a slow, but silent clap. The others were probably too engaged in what they were doing to notice, but for those who did, they chose to ignore him. Even though, he continued his slow clap and stared at the Commander. It seemed that for now, he would be working under the woman and he normally didn't take the lower jobs, but it couldn't be helped. Aeiel noticed that her attention was elsewhere, so he began to slowly approach the woman.
"Well, well,well Commander. Apparently, we shall now be working together." Out of habit, he pulled out his stolen pack of cigarettes, opened it, and pulled out a cancer stick. "Would you like one?" He offered and if she had taken one, he offered to light it. After all that was done, he pulled one out and stuck it in between his lips. "So what is it that we are doing? The Nileef Council sent me here with information, but we weren't told enough information..."

Page sat quietly. Her eyes scanned over the species and her new crew. Some of them seemed to want to say something to her but they never got the nerve to stand and move over to her. Maybe their chain of command was that of major superiority, not just of rank but of people too. The slightest of scrapes made her ears. A boot, a silent step but just one flaw had hit her. Whatever it was, it was right behind her. "Well, well, well." She heard behind her and she immediately recognized the voice. "Well, well, well, indeed." She turned herself around in the stool. "Apparently, we shall now be working together." She nodded silently. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a familiar brand of death sticks, he held the pack out to her, offering. She shook her head. "Thanks but..." She pulled out a pack of gum. "Haven't had one for 2 years." She placed it back in her pocket. Minty gum and alcohol were not a good mix. "I thought I spied you in the group." Aeiel put a cigarette in his lips and lit it. He then proceeded to ask a question which made her smile. She leaned over and tapped the stool next to her, inviting the Nileef to sit. "If I told you, you'd just obsess." She smiled and took a sip of her drink, suddenly it tasted rather bland, she didn't know why but she suddenly didn't want it. She nudged it away from the side of the counter with her gloved fingers. "I'll explain the mission when we're on my new ship." She could get used to saying "My ship". She smiled again and turned to him. "In the meantime... What do you think of this.." He didn't quite get the "this" at first until she waved her hand. "So many species working on one ship, I mean."

"If I told you, you'd just obsess." Aeiel cocked his eyebrow. "Probably not. I do what I can." He watched the woman take a sip of her drink and then push it away. "I'll explain the mission when we're on my new ship." "Hmm... I wonder if the ship shall be something beyond all we've seen. Top of the line? We are working under the council..." He paused and shook his head. "Working under the council...Hmmm... Is that such a good thing?"
She smiled and then turned back to him. "In the meantime... What do you think of this..." Aeiel's ear twitched and crossed his arms. A confused look showed in his eyes. "So many species working on one ship, I mean." Oh she just had to ask that. At that, he licked his lips and then looked around. "Oh, I hate it and love it. Some of them are...interesting..." By the way he said interest, it was obvious that he really was interested in a few of them, including her, but he made it sound as if he was talking about all of the crew. "Some...are just disgusting...To be put in the same ship with them and their damned set of beliefs." He gave out a few quick glares, but when he turned back to her, he returned to a smile.
"Oh...The council has really done it now. Hopefully all works well...If not... then this shall leak...Rather unfortunate. If something goes wrong...even the smallest...The council could be in trouble." Aeiel finally sat down and continued to smoke. "Hmmm...They cured cancer on Earth? All that stuff gone yet? Diseases now and days seem to be as small as colds..." He said, changing the subject, afraid that she would stop talking to him.

Page listened to his rap about the other species and smiled when he said of the difficulties that could happen if things went wrong. "Don't worry. I don't make a habit of failing." She winked. Then he decided to change the subject. She laughed. "Cured cancer on Earth? They've found a cure for bullet wounds, what backwater planet have you been living on?" She pulled out a small compartment on her armor and took out a canister. The canister has the words "Medigel" in light red lettering. "Of course... It doesn't work if you're already dead, right? And also it kind of sucks that it can't fix any internal damage. Buuut.. That's what our armor shields are for, as long as we don't take too much damage the shields will deflect the bullets." Of course he knew this. The modern guns were mostly energy weapons that don't have any real mass. They are unable to go through the energy shields and don't do extreme damage to the organs if they do get through. They've tried switching back and forth to solid weapons which could go straight through the energy barrier without much damage, but then the military just increased their armor underneath the shield and solid bullets cannot break through it. Lately many manufacturers have built upgrades for guns to give special additions to the bullets. Like Cryo rounds are part solid ice. Some of the round can bypass the shield and freeze the equipments of the suit itself. Interesting stuff but still in their beta. Page did a 180 and leaned on the counter behind her. She watched the others talking. "Looks like they're getting along. Then again, nobody too racist can be here or else their command would never have brought them on the mission... What about you, why were you selected? Or did you volunteer?"
(Just some conversation, we'll time skip to the ship in a few. Once I decide how to structure it, anyways.)

"Always wanting to find your own cures...Some races don't even get cancer..." He continued to smoke as she pulled up the Medigel canister and he nodded his head at it. Aeiel listened to her as she explained the Medigel and then went on to the armor. "Mhm.. I'm sure. Some armor can just be a damn pain though..." He leaned against the counter and then tried to puff out a smoke ring. It didn't work, but he didn't really care. He tried again and didn't notice the woman turn, but this time he did make a ring. Aeiel grinned and then heard her speak again. "Looks like they're getting along. Then again, nobody too racist can be here or else their command would never have brought them on the mission..." There was a slight paused and he took that time to make eye contact with her. "What about you, why were you selected? Or did you volunteer?"
He grinned and then sat up. "I found out about this little outing before the rest of the Special Forces did. I volunteered, but at first they were a bit unsure. They checked my file and then allowed me to go because of my position and of my 'feats'." Aeiel paused and looked around at all of the people in the bar. "To know more about these people, because we shall be partners, I looked up some information. They chose the best for this little mission of their's..."
