She held her helmet by its straps in one hand and had her favorite rifle in the other. "Hmph..." All around her people in safety cone orange and pepto-bismol pink walked around. She couldn't say she liked it, but she wouldn't say she hated it either. K.C. just disliked it more than others, but it couldn't be helped, right? She didn't get in trouble for being out of uniform before, but getting knocked wasn't exactly fun for her. She rubbed the back of her head and then continued to walk.
No one had told her where to go or what to do yet, so she took this time to just walk around. She passed some soldiers playing cards and then she passed some other soldiers talking Chinese. Today, she didn't feel like playing cards and she didn't know how to speak Chinese. K.C. sighed and moved on. This was great. In her 'free time', she really was free and had nothing to do.
"Lieutenant Xu. We can't expend anymore money to replace one of those planes..." She stopped walking. K.C. wasn't really near them, but she was close enough to barely hear them over other sounds."...and due to the difficulty to obtain one, you're being reassigned to the air wing division." So the person who crashed was alright... "Air wing?" K.C. took a seat next to some guys playing some cards, but she could still hardly hear them. "...Comanche squad?" "That I do. And I know you know how to fly one of them..." That was the last thing she heard because the guys she sat by started to yell and laugh.
"HA! GO FISH!" One screamed and then turned to K.C. "You wanna play?" "Sorry, not really. Just came here to watch." She said and then the soldier went back to playing. As the soldier looked down at his cards, K.C. looked up to see Lieutenant Xu's superior walk away. She would have gone up to talk to Olivia, but she had no business with the woman. A pathfinder really couldn't say much to to a pilot, so she probably had to find something else to do. "You sure you don't want to play? It's actually pretty fun..." "No. Believe me... I'm fine."

A hooded robe... a shepherd's staff... Willie just shook his head and chuckled. "That guy must have pulled a few too many G's" he mumbled. He took note of it anyways, an order like that will make his payment... bigger. He breathed "King for a day." and found his tent, inside a fantastic little radio, an oldish police scanner, to be exact. He dialed in a frequency marked "orders" and whispered through the handset the pilot's wants. The man on the other end, in a camp had direct connections with the Supply Depot, and sequentially, the rations boxes. A Chinese man walked out of a squat brick building across from Willie's tent... finally looking disheveled, like the rest of the Americans. Minutes later, A woman tried to walk away, before a commanding officer stopped her. She looked distraught, but he couldn't hear what made her. Today was slow. Everyone was happy. He walked into the midday sun and joined a game of Old Maid.
Austin, out of some pure luck, maybe a bit of divine intervention, found himself perched on top of a tall, slender mud brick building. From here he could see the entire landscape. Lean over the chipped wooden railing, and you could see the whole American district of camp. He almost thought about telling Sarge about this spot, until he realized that he'd get put on night watch if he did. He'll let someone else "discover" it. Willie went into his tent. Now free of people, he began to sketch the road under him, stomped so hard, not even a weed could make a living in the dirt. It had a profound, albeit cryptic, beauty. About halfway through, his scene was disturbed again, by that Chinese troop that took front, and some guy. Did he know him? High School? Who knows.... not worth thinking about right now. Not long after--to Austin's dismay-- more disruptions... but this one caught his attention. A Woman-- Austin hadn't ever seen her before-- walked out of the infirmary. She wasn't half bad looking. She went in the picture. "You mean the Comanche squad?" "That I do. And I know you know how to fly one of them. You must have in order to fly a bomber. I expect you to be prompt. Your next sortie is 0600." His pencil "broke." He ran downstairs to fetch his little knife, handy to sharpen that kinda thing. He made sure to bump into the woman along the way back up.

Vic finishes convo with Xiang. Xiang left and saw man bump into girl from other night, was going to talk, but didn't. Vic talks with chinook pilot and asks to take over, chinook pilot says no and leaves Vic standing alone.
(Yes, that's how pissed I am. I hate the god damn auto log off shit. It was a good post before too..)

So much was going on around here, and it like they didn't care they were going to be on the offensive again in another six hours or so. Too make this worse on Olivia, she was ordered to fly something she wasn't really comfortable with. Sure, she knew how to fly it, but much like a push-up or pull up, knowing how isn't always enough. She might be shot down easier in this thing. And this time, Xiang won't be there to save her. She stood there pondering, when suddenly, she was forced forward. Someone had bumped into her. His pencil landed beside her feet, sharpened, but not from a conventional sharpener. "Oh! I'm sorry." The man said, and Olivia bent down to retrieve his pencil. Looking him in the face, she found he was pretty handsome, and perhaps though, he might have done this on purpose. But she shook that thought off, remembering men his age were often married, and his glove hid any sign of a ring. But as in the military, always assume the worst. She handed the wooden pencil back, and watched him turn away, but didn't walk off. Guess he wasn't looking at her. -Oh well...- She thought to herself. -Maybe someone will come without a glove...and hopefully, I won't die tonight.-

"Are you sure?" "Quit asking me to play gold fish!" She leaned back against someone's pack. "...I sat here because I like the shade and there's nothing better to do. Before you say anything, no." K.C. sat back for a while and and closed her eyes. She would use this time to try and relax. If she was going to die today, then this would probably the only time she got to do nothing. Doing nothing sometimes sounded really good, but she got bored of it quickly.
K.C. picked up her stuff and started to walk around again. Pretty much, people were doing the same thing they were before the battle they just had. She pulled the rifle strap over her head and stopped for a moment. She held her helmet with both of her hands and looked down, wondering where the hell she was going. "No wonder America sends us random stuff...I'd sure like to play some football or something..."
"Hey, mind if I take over?" An black American soldier asked. And then the chinook pilot tersely replied with a, "No."
When the pilot said no and the black American soldier reacted, his facial expression caused her to chuckle. "You're really funny." She walked up to the guy and smiled. K.C. hoped that this guy wasn't boring and she hoped that he wasn't mean. She just needed something to do and one thing she didn't want to do was go people watching.

Austin spun around quickly. "You got put on the Comanches, didn't you? Careful, those things are armored with cardboard." he noticed this didn't fix the worried look on her face. "here... want a couple hints? I guess I can let you in on them... Sarge would say 'no', but you're cute enough to keep around." Austin chirped jokingly. he hoped it was taken seriously. He look out his old pencil, and started drawing X's, O's and arrows in the sand, until it looked like a football playbook. "remember: when in doubt, rocket pods." He explained all the sand diagrams, even though, being a pilot, she probably already had things like this tucked away. The time with her was nice... she was reserved enough to make Austin feel important, a hard feeling to get in an army of, essentially, clones.
He couldn't hide his grin.

"Jackass." Vic mumbled beyond comprehension. Suddenly he heard something behind him. Some people would take what she said as a mocking comment but he only chuckled. "Man, I'd kill to get into any kinda chopper... Wait, I have." Vic still had his unlit cig hanging forgotten at the corner of his mouth. "Yo, I know you." He said, recognizing her face from yesterday. "You the one who was raped." He said with honest eyes. It just so happened one of K.C.'s friends had spread a cruel little joke around. "Ey, they said you got raped cus you didn't wear your Hello Kitty outfit." He said, pointing to the pink on his uniform. "S'okay. I hate it too but I'd wear it if it'd make me only get shot by the enemies and not the allies too." Just then the cig fell out of his mouth. "Damn, these gotta last me a week until the next supply drop." He cursed and bent down to pick it up. When he got it he began brushing off sand like a maiden would dust a house. "S'okay, s'okay, you okay baby." She assured the death stick as he "nursed it back to health".
Xiang laughed a little after hearing the man with his hook up tactics. He turned away from the two to carry on his own business. First to find out the new plans...

Olivia was surprised when she had heard the man talk to her again. Perhaps there was hope. "..those things are armored with cardboard." He had said, but that didn't help to remedy her mood about it. She then watched him take over to help draw a diagram. She couldn't help but smile, this footsoldier was trying to teach her how to fly an aircraft. It was a cute attempt at "hitting on", she had ever seen. It was funny, alot of men had attempted to win her over...but most were not even close to charming; "Hey baby, wanna get some of this!" she remembered a certain short Filipino soldier sign her, by pounding his thigh. It was appalling more than appealing, and she made it known to him, by giving him a hard kick in this jewels with a steel toed boot. She was proud to say she stopped an entire gene pull full of womanizing idiots. When he had finished, she giggled and knelt down beside him. "You forgot one thing, though." Olivia said, easing the pencil from his hand and into her own. Placing her own X's and O's on the digram, she tried to make a little scenario for him. "You see, there will be RPG troopers here and here, who will be shooting at me. Rocket pods won't save me from that, you know. What do you think I should do?" She had put on a playful voice, and afterwards, even winked at the footsoldier.

"Man, I'd kill to get into any kinda chopper...Wait, I have." Vic said before turning to look at her. "Yo, I know you." K.C. cocked her eyebrow. How? "You the one who was raped." This guy had probably mistaken her for someone else, because K.C. knew that she didn't get violated. If she did, then she probably wouldn't be such a happy camper. " Ey, they said you got raped cus you didn't wear your Hello Kitty outfit." S'okay. I hate it too, but I'd wear it if it'd make me only get shot by the enemies and not the allies too." The man dropped his cancer stick and picked it up to 'nurse it back to health'. "S'okay, s'okay, you okay baby." "So..." She said, holding back her laughter. "I got raped?" K.C. started to laugh. "I'm assuming it was a big gun that got me... and it hit me hard!" She pounded her fist against her palm. K.C. could already guess what had happened and she was already guessing who had done it. "If rape means getting knocked out cold by getting hit by something really, really hard on the head then...Sure, I got raped." She soon stopped laughing. "What else did they tell you?"

Austin studied Olivia's revisions, for a minute, before adding more lines of his own. "You seem to forget I'll be there for the soul purpose to get rid of guys like that. I got you covered. Besides... if you fall outta the sky, I'll catch you... I played college Football. It'll take more than a measly chopper to catch me off guard." Who knew childlike naivety could get someone so far?
Willie walked back to his tent. Who was in hurry in this time of the day? He flopped down on his cot and picked up and old People magazine. Fresh Fish was sitting on a road out there... talking with that other pilot. He got on the radio as fast as he could. "Hey... I need a couple things. You got a pen handy?" "Talk to me."

Vic laughed as she started talking then she asked for more, the way she looked at him made him laughed more. "Oh hell naw. Don't look at me like that. If it was a brotha you would be crippled." He joked. "You obviously wasn't raped but that means yo homies crackin' jokes." He placed the cig back into his mouth then took it out again and spat. "Damn, this shit's gonna taste nasty." He mumbled then put it back in and as he dug around in his pockets he procured a lighter while listening to her if she had said anything at all. He lit the cig and after a puff he held his hand out. "I meant no disrespect girl." He said and smiled. "Name's Corporal Vincent Moore. Ya know, the only real ladies' man in these parts." He said with a wink.

"Oh hell naw. Don't look at me like that. If it was a brotha you would be crippled. You obviously wasn't raped but that means yo homies crackin' jokes." He was telling the truth and she would probably talk to them about it later. It would be rude to leave the guy there. "Damn, this shit's gonna taste nasty." He mumbled. "Yeah, I guess they are crackin' jokes. I should go and talk to them, but it wouldn't be nice to leave you here..." Vic took some smoke in and then held out his hand. "I meant no disrespect, girl." He smiled and she smiled back. "Don't worry about it." She said, shaking his hand. "Name's Corporal Vincent Moore. Ya know, the only real ladie's man in these parts." He winked and she just continued to smile. "Is that so, Corporal? Well, I'm your friendly Pathfinder...K.C. Cross. Plesant to meet someone like you." K.C. let go of his hand. "But I bet you already knew that I was a pathfinder, right?"

"oh really? I hear those things can weigh up to quite a few tons." Olivia responded while returning the flirtatious attitude. She lightly brushed the bottom of his chin with her finger. "Oh well, we will see in a few hours." She wiggled her fingers to him as a wave. "Buh-bye now."
Saddler finished inspection of his plane, he found everything maintained pretty well. He returned to his assigned tent, and met with his bomber pilot. "AH! Olivia. I hear they patched you up, but I didn't expect you to be here so soon."
"Yeah, I know..and they want me back on the field...in a helicopter." She told the latin man. He seemed amused. "Haha. A downgrade from a fearsome bird of prey to some bothersome fly? Oh, what is our military thinking these days?" "They don't do it often, and not very long." Olivia rebutted, flopping onto her cot on her side of the tent. "I'd rather not die somewhere in this sandbox." "Haha, more spiteful today it seems? Well, you go get some rest then. I'm going to head out to the mess hall." And with that, he left.

(fillers flow until time skip. I pass that responsibility *totem of immunity*)
Austin ran after the pilot, "I never got your name! Hey!" but she had disappeared into her tent already, by the time the time he would have caught up. Panting slightly, but not enough to show it (especially the guys that were built like a tank), he shuffled to his cot, and layed back, hands behind head. Willie was in the tent next to him, and he looked guilty. Austin yelled through the canvas, "you look like you did something I should know about." "No, sir, just.... a good joke." "Oh yeah?" "Yeah... But You'll hear it Sunday." Austin quirked his mouth in thought, and shrugged. probably a "sandwich walks into a bar" [note 1] deal. He sat sketching His and the Pilot's little dirt scratches.
note 1 "A sandwich walks into a bar and says 'Hey, can I get a [alcohol product]?' the bartender says 'No, sir.' and turns away. the Sandwich asks 'why?' and the bartender says 'Sorry, but we don't serve food here." for those of us living under a gray-ish rock

K.C. Asked if Vic knew she was a pathfinder, her shook his head. "Had no idea." He smiled. "S'okay though. I think we both need to be gettin' ready for the push tonight, huh?" He asked as he took a long drag of his cigarette while he listened. He let out the smoke, making sure it wasn't in the girl's face. "Well, we should go. Was a pleasure meetin' ya Miss K.C. Cross." He said and walked off to prepare.
Xiang was in his own barracks now. The Chinese red guards sat in a circle silently. Each one was in deep thought. There was another joint operation tonight, they would hear more at the briefing. Until then, each Chinese soldier must stay level headed and the only way for someone to remember to think is by thinking.
