"Have you ever wondered.. What life would be like without electricity... Vehicles... Lights... Computers... Have you ever wondered what the population would do if that ceased? Now that we lazy humans are so atoned to our selfish ways?"
Sincerely, Anonymous.
------------------------
Awake before everyone else and already knocking on the familiar white plastered door. "Nate!" A soft high pitched voice sounded as the knocking grew more impatient. "Naaaate!!" The boy slumped impatiently. There was still a whole hour before school for the two but the boy wanted breakfast, which usually only his big brother makes for him. Bo Trenton, 6 years old, short auburn hair and hazel eyes, little brother to Nathan Trenton. Their parents died three years back. Bo was still too young to have understood what had happened. They both now live with their aunt and uncle. Both the grownups start their jobs early so Bo had to play alarm clock and Nathan had to play the person that gets everything together.
The two never liked their aunt and uncle much. Especially their uncle. The man was a drunkard who likes to tell off the children. He also stares at Bo in a questionable manner. Many times the man has offered to give Bo a bath but their aunt would reject him. And when the aunt was gone Nathan would always do it, afraid as to what that man would do. Their aunt however wasn't one to be hated. She wasn't very fond of kids and definately wasn't good with them. She did try though. She tried to be a model person around the two and occassionally would take them somewhere nice. But her lack of patience made her a questionable benefactor.
"Nate! C'mon!" Bo complained again, his knocking now turned to a pound.

"Nate!" "Five more minutes... I was about to go on...Ragh...." A sixteen year old boy mumbled in his sleep. "Naaaate!" The boy sighed and slowly got out of bed, putting on some blue jeans and a grey shirt. He stretched and yawned before going to the mirror. The boy looked into it with his hazel eyes and then sighed. "Ah...I need to take a shower..." His little brother looked alot like him, but then again, they were siblings. The boy picked up a watch from his desk and checked the time and gave out a sigh of relief, before heading to his door. "Nate! C'mon!" And then he heard pounds.
"I'm coming, kid!" He shouted, before opening the door to grab his little brother. He picked up the small boy from the ground and put him over his shoulder, as if he were carrying a large pack. "So, what are we going to eat today? I have a big pot with boiling water, some carrots, peas, and brocolli...Maybe I should make some soup..." He laughed, as he carried the little boy down the stairs. "I am the giant, Nathaniel J. Trenton! Fee-Fie-Fo-Fum! I want to eat something young! Hmm...Maybe I should make some Bo soup! How about that, kiddo?"
"I'll pack you into a soup bowl and bring you to school to eat!" He laughed and then put him down in a chair. "Any last wishes before I put you into a soup, little child?" Nathan asked, pretending to be the big, bad giant in the fairy tales.

Bo laughed. "Fee-Fie-Fo-Fum. Your feet is stinky!" He cringed from his brothers back with a chuckle. Then he was set into a chair. "Nooo!!" He gasped. "I don't wanna be eaten!" He even hated the idea of being in a frying pan with nasty things like broccoli, carrots, and peas. Bo cringed as the nasty taste settled into his memory. Oh well, at least Nate didn't mention onions.
Bo gasped. "Today!" He started enthusiastically. "Mrs. Land.. Landing... Um.. Mrs. L is taking us to the computers!" He had a wide smile on his face, even though it always frustrated him that he couldn't pronounce Mrs. Landington easily. The high school and elementary school wasn't far from each other so it created a convenience to the boys so they could just easily walk there without having to rely on rides anymore. Bo was still dressed in his Spiderman night clothes. Which was funny because he didn't even like Spiderman because he was deftly afraid of spiders.

Nathan cocked his eyebrow and looked at Bo. "My feet is stinky? Really?" He lughed and looked down at him. "Computers? Did you get your permission slip signed? And if you want...I can skip a day to come with you." He washed a frying pan and wiped it dry. He put the pan on the stove and turned back to his brother. "Pancakes, and eggs, or bacon, or sausages? Or something new? I can get out some spam if you want..." He looked around the kitchen and couldn't find anything to use, so he picked up a fork. "This weekend, we'll have to go shopping for kitchen stuff..."
"After breakfast, we're going to get you dressed for school...and I'll give you your lunch money. And remember, always tell me when there's a problem, 'cause I'll help you out." Nathan smiled, remembering Mrs. Landington. She was a nice teacher, and remembered being in her class. "...Hmm...I bet those two people don't even know her...I don't think they even went to meet her once...So much for being our guardians..."
"I swear...when I get a good enough job, I'm moving out of this place with Bo...Damn those two people." He muttered to himself. Nathan didn't like the two very much and they hardly did anything. They were nothing like their parents. "So what do you want to eat, champ?" He asked Bo, finally turning back to him.

Bo rubbed his fingers on his chin like he remembered his father used to do. He hated when Nathan would let Bo pick what to eat. Bo wasn't too particular about things and like any child his age could never make up his mind. Suddenly Nathan interrupted his thinking by talking about their gaurdians, which Bo pretended to understand. "Kelly and Tim?" Bo asked, his eyes looking at his brother innocently. He never addressed the two as aunt or uncle. It drove Kelly mad.
Then Bo gasped. "Oooh!!!" He said putting his hand over his mouth. "You said a bad wooord!" He always did that and laughed right after. Then Nathan had to lay the tough question on him now. "Um.. Sausage!" He smiled, knowing that he just chose at random.

Early, as always, Myles VanBrocklin strode into the A.V. room, a hardcover binder and packet of paper under one arm. Insanely tall, paper thin, with frighteningly sharp facial features and "Hubble telescope lens" glasses, as they were constantly referred to, only enhanced the boy's ghostly, acne scarred complexion. Dressing in pressed khaki slacks, a gray long-sleeved shirt, and mahogany sweater vest didn't mask it either. The room was a dull sandy color, like everywhere else in the school, and the closed door near the center of the left wall held boundless possibilities. "Hello, Miss Berkowitz! Lovely as ever." He nodded as they brushed past. "Dude!" A short boy in a blue-and-white checkered shirt and jeans greeted him from the corner. "You gain +5 ass-kissing power!" Myles gave a genuine chuckle and walked over the the other guy, pushing the glasses further up on the bridge of his nose. "Hey Kay-Kay." He never told anyone his real name, and just introduced himself as Kay-kay. "What's the news today?" "Well... We have beef tacos and pepperoni and cheese pizzas on the lunch menu today, We square off on the football field against McQueen, another dress-code reminder, and someone lost an anklet." Myles scanned the packet of paper. "We are SOOO gonna lose..." "Tell me about it. Roll your twelve-sided dice my friend, because we are gonna need some defensive spells after this game." "My 'Leeroy Jenkins' card, and six-thousand gold says we lose by 21." "You're on." The bell rang, it's death-wail echoing through the hallways, and Myles silenced his cell phone, and flipped off the palm pilot hanging off his waist from a belt clip. The news was always at the end of the first period, and until then, talking MMO and making paper airplanes was all there was to do, which Ms. Berkowitz graciously allowed, so long everyone has both eyes by the end of it all. "Today's gonna be big. I can feel it." Myles said with a smile. "Okay, Seer of the Mists... you can snap out of your little world now."

(Not gonna put much detail for the female...if you don't know her basic structure yet, go read any of my other intros...it is all the same...)
"Get the new face masks yet?" Asked a woman to a man, who seemed lost in the music being fed to him through ear buds. "Hey!" She said louder, but the man was still oblivious to her. One more time, this time giving him a little pinch to his side. "Al!" "Yeow!!" the man shouted, and ripped the ear buds out. "Damn, Carmen. If you wanted me, just say something!" "....I did..." Both were still dressed in their little "half" fire gear, still wearing the 20 pound pants held up by suspenders, and the heavy boots, but they wore their navy blue "FDG" t'shirts, instead of the heavy fire proof vest then the easily 20 pound jacket over that. They surpressed a fire that erupted several days ago, and were simply taking break, being on their shifts there for a while. The man put one of the ear phones back in, so he could listen to his music again, and listen to the woman, to avoid getting pinched again.
He looked to be middle-aged, his brown hair was just starting to recede, which was opposite to his facial hair, which was a bit more than stubble at length. Blue eyes and a flat nose completed the look. "New masks? Oh! Afraid not. Fire marshal says they set the date even further...three more days now." "They said that three days ago...god they need to get here soon. These old masks can't even keep sand out, let alone smoke." The woman responded. She straightened out her thick black glasses, and scratched the back of her head. Her long black hair was in a ponytail right now, as it should be, regulations state long hair is either tied or cut. Not liking option two, she simply ties it back and shoves it under her hat.
"Listen up!!" The chief shouted from the other end of the room. "Unit 18, Al Borland, and Carmen Hu! Get over here you two!" The two ran up to him in military fashion, and nearly snapped to attention on arrival. "Why the hell are you two still here?" the fire chief boomed. "Should you be helping control the fire?" "Uhh...no sir." Al spoke up bravely. "I believe Unit 34 said they had it under control, and if a Unit exceeds over 19 hours of service for one contained fire, said unit is too--" The chief stopped him. "Yeah, yeah. Alright. I'll go speak with them...but if it's a lie...I'll have both your asses!" And he left.
Carmen stared at Al oddly. "Why is he so angry with us? I mean we only operate the Snozzle in situations like this...no burning buildings where it can collapse at any second." Al shrugged. "Sounds like my first date...and don't know, Carmen...but what I do know is that I'm missing my favorite song." And he placed the other bud in his ear. "You'll know where I'll be if you need me."

Nathan tossed some sausages into a pan and let it cook. In the minutes it took him to cook the sausages, he quickly readied his brother's clothing. He would run up and down the stairs, picking out clothing, getting his books, and making sure the sausages didn't burn. He stopped with a pile of books in his hands and he flipped some sausages before running back up the stairs to fix their book bags. He checked his watch and then walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. "Here's your sausages and time to eat, kid..." He said serving the food. Nathan picked up a piece of untoasted bread and took a bite out of it, before saying, "Bo, you take a bath right after, and then I'm gonna take a bath...Get ready quickly 'cause first period I have testing."

Bo began watching with amusement as his brother struggled to do everything at once. After a few Bo decided on something to do as his brother did that. "I'm gonna feed Roxy.." He mumbled and left the table to pour the cat some food. Bo was extremely lucky that he was able to keep Roxy. Tim had made such a fuss over it that even Kelly had to take Bo's side, and in the end the argument was won. By the time Bo was finished Nathan had already called him to the table. "Okay!" He confirmed and stood up and ran back to practically inhale his food. Bo was well known for choking for he hardly even bit the food. He didn't luckly and then he went to grab a towel when he was done. It didn't take long but his bath was through, he didn't wash his hair though, the boy hated when shampoo got in his eyes. He wouldn't tell Nathan, but lately Nathan has been catching on. Bo could only hope he doesn't ask.

Nathan looked at Bo and cocked his eyebrow, seeing that his his hair wasn't wet. "Bo...when I was little...I was always told to wash my hair. I heard that there were bugs, y'see, that ate the skin off your head if you didn't keep your head clean. You see...bugs take the dirt as salt and pepper for their favorite meal, skin, and only like it when its dirty.. These bugs are real, and you can tell they are there when your head starts to itch...and when you scratch. If you let them eat your skin for a long time, your head will bleed." He told his brother, before finishing his bread and going for the shower.
He showered quickly and changed into some jeans and the same gray shirt. Nathan didn't bother to fix his hair or even dry it, because of the time. "Bo...c'mon lets go...We're walking today." He told the little boy, before grabbing both of their backpacks. Nathan stepped outside and looked up at the sun and then sighed. "Bo...are you sure you don't want me to come with you to your field trip?" He asked, getting ready to walk his brother to school.

Bo looked stunned at his brother's story. Next time he'd make sure to wash his hair, he didn't want to get eaten. In fact, he was tempted to go in before his brother and wash his hair real quick but didn't. He waited rather impatiently for Nathan to finish his shower then they set off. Along the way Bo, like usually, glued his face to the window of the bakery. He always asked if Kelly would buy a cake today, but not this time, Nathan quickly nudged him to move along and he allowed himself reluctantly to be taken. Then he shook his head frantically at Nathan's question, how embarressing that would be. "No, no." He said quickly. "That's ok." Before long they were at the front of the elementary school. "Bye Nate!" Bo waved with an enthusiastic smile as he set off for his classroom.

Still the only two in the room, the teacher even saying it was far too early to sit at a desk, went to grab a donut and some coffee. Kay-Kay flopped down in a blue plastic chair, and was dismayed when he realized it was one of the few left that was connected to the desk. Myles simply shook his head and slid into the neighboring chair. They both pulled out some posterboard and laid the slats of paper across the adjacent desks. "I wish Miss Berkowitz would just give us a key." Myles droned, nodding towards the heavy metal door separating the A.V. room from the rest of the classroom. "She knows that's the only reason I come early." Kay-Kay grunted absentmindedly, finishing the last folds of a paper airplane. He flicked his wrist and the two boys watched in unison as it flew two rows over before dropping like a lead weight. "Nice..." Myles taunted, before they both laughed. Turning back to he sheets of the heavy paper, Kay-Kay furrowed his brow, and Myles dropped his chin onto the heel of his hand. "Chemistry projects suck." Kay-Kay growled. "Yep." "What was it again?" "Diagrams on how element A, which we haven't picked yet, bonds, why it does that, and how it applies to modern science." "Why is it we do this in the A.V. room? It's the middle of zero period, we should go the the chem lab." "Saves us a walk and I find it a more pleasant area to think." "Whatever... let's dooooo... uhh... Bismuth?" Myles changed his position to the other hand, before getting up and wheeling a cart of art supplies over the the makeshift table. The sun was now a good ways over the horizon, and the room shone a pleasant dandelion yellow. "Zero should be over soon." "I know, I know. I'll get the glue."

"Be careful, kiddo." Nathan said before heading to his own school. He entered the school and was greeted by one of his friends. "Hey Team Captain! Football season's up! Next is the old fashion Basketball!!!You joining football and basketball again?" He shrugged and smiled. Nathan had always played the sports. He began playing them at a young age, and never stopped, but now, he had more important things to do. It was getting harder to take care of Bo, so he thinking of quiting the sports and maybe even quiting school. But quiting school was not an option.
"Why are you so early today?" Nathan asked. "Well, ya see...there's this girl who comes early...and damn does that girl have nice curves." He replied and Nathan smiled. "You really want her for the next dance?" "Ya! Nate...man....a lot of girls want you, but you ain't doing nothing...You're wasting your time by not gettin' up with those chics!" Nathan shrugged and looked for the next classroom. "I'm not intrested in dances or getting girls...so...those are two less things I have to worry about."
He walked into a classroom, not paying attention to the room number. "Scott, I'll see you later, man." "I'll hook you up with this girl in my History class. You'll look good together!" His friend shouted before leaving Nathan alone. He walked into the classroom and scratched his head, seeing some students he didn't recognize. "Oh...sorry. I must be in the wrong room..." He saw that they were working on something and gave a smile. "Sorry for the interruption...carry on." He turned around and pulled out the school map. Even though he had been at this school for a while, he still didn't know where all the rooms were.
------------
"Karin Bennett!" A man shouted to a woman sitting on top of a hourse. "You decided to bring out your shit-smelling horse?" She looked down at the man and took off her sun glasses. "It's Ka-reen Bennett. Damnit, Devan...You always seem to find ways to annoy me." The man laughed. "So you had the worst shift this time...From late at night to the morning! And obviously, the last punks you dealt with... killed your bike. When you getting it back?" Karin shrugged and kicked the horse, causing the horse to walk and then trot away. "Karin! Damn!" She heard them shout and she laughed.
She stopped at the fire station and hopped of her horse. Her skin was brownish in color and her eyes were the color of brown dust in a field. She was dressed in a black police uniform and wore sun glasses and a helmet, just in case she fell. Karin tied her horse to a pole and opened a pouch that the horse carried. She pulled out two bags and checked for any spills. "You guys and your love for home cooking. Mollie," She said to the horse, "I hope my friends at the fire station have a nice appetite!" The horse neighed and she walked to the door.
"Hello?!" She called, unable to knock on the door. "It's Karin! And I brought my homemade breakfast for the firestation guys!" She looked down at the bags she hold and sighed. "Can someone open the door? My hands are full!"

Bo entered the classroom and sat next to his friend. They joked quietly and snickered while they waited for the other late students to arrive. About 5 minutes through, after roll call, the the kids were all seated on the bus. It was like a five minute drive until they hit a large library where the computers awaited them. The kids got off anxiously and entered. A half an hour passed and they were already at their computers. "Bo!" Robert called right next to him. "I think something's wrong with mine!" He gasped and Bo leaned over to look at his. "It's off!" Bo gasped back and pushed a random button on the keyboard without any success. "I dunno!" Bo shrugged and Robert snickered. "I just pushed this." Robert leaned forward at Bo's computer but suddenly realizing what happened to Robert's computer Bo caught his arm. "No! I'm gonna tell!" He threatened but Robert continued but the struggle was lost. Bo accidentally knocked the computer straight off the table and it went crashing down on the linolium floor. "Uh oh...." Bo mumbled and when the teacher came Robert immediately pointed at Bo. "He's lying!" Bo defended. "He tried to break mine!" In the end the teacher grabbed Bo by the arm and took him out of the library, after all, he was causing a fuss. "Now what happened?" Mrs. Landington asked with a stern look on her face. Bo immediately fell into intimidation and his eyes began to tear up. "I didn't do anything! He tried to push the button on my computer and when I went to stop him it fell!" She sighed. "Alright, I guess I'll have to call your uncle. Bo immediately gasped. "NO!!!" He shouted so loud that the students inside turned to look at the closed front door.
Floating back into his seat a pair of white gloves obediently allowed themselves to be manipulated by the rough fingers underneath. "No, we've seen no signs of NG004 in a few months." A Russian voice reported into the radios. "Yes sir, I'll continue research...... No sir, I've not seen anymore sightings.... Yes sir." With that the conversation was done. "Damn... You'd think I'd get rich off this." He shook his head miserably then decided to take a gander at the living grape. "I wish I was back home... Space sucks..." He spat. Suddenly a blue wave, like a giant curtain. "What the fuck...?"
Bo was already fighting back tears while the teacher gave her lecture to him. Suddenly a small odd noise in his hear. It felt like it was coming from his head. Seeing that Mrs. Landington stopped talking it probably happened to her. No sight of anything. Suddenly the sound of explosions could be heard. The parked cars in front of the library seemed to catch fire, well the hoods did. That was an exception to the ones in motion.. They exploded. Static could be heard highly from inside the library and suddenly, explosions, smaller ones. The teacher opened up the door to the now-darkened room as the sun filled the room. Crying children, them cringing in pain from the exploded computers.. Langington was in shock. Bo took a few steps back, the teacher noticed this and immediately snapped back. "Bo don't-!" She couldn't finish, Bo was already in a sprint, trying to avoid the debris, he was now crying, he only wanted one thing.

Al and Carmen were in the garage that was off to the side of the main entrance. Al's ears were busy at the moment with some smooth jazz, but Carmen could hear it plain as day. "Hey, it's Karin." She said with a chuckle. She must be worried we aren't getting enough to eat." It was all directed to her male friend, but of course, her voice was thwarted by the headphones. She opened the main entrance and lead Karin in "Hey Karin! Are you on shift? Come on, come inside, I insist. Just Al and me here really." She showed her to the kitchen on the other side of the garage. Most people don't know, but a fire station is a home away from home to some fire fighters. There were beds, showers, kitchens, all the like. "We need to take you out to lunch one of these days." The asian woman comment, before heading for the garage again. "Give me a moment..." The sound of her boots could be heard going to the other end of the garage, and a yelp of pain from the male fire fighter. "OW! Carmen! Stop that!" "You should take a break from that. Too much music will rot your mind." The two came in together a few moments later, and Al greeted Karin with a wave. "Morning, Karin." He said coolly. "Another homemade breakfast I see...we'll need to take you to dinner some time." "Lunch." Carmen quickly corrected. "Right." Afterwards, he simply put the buds back into his ears, while Carmen went to the coffee machine on the counter. Not moments later, Al yelped again, and threw his music player to the ground. "Damn that was loud!" Carmen only chuckled, and began to set the coffee maker. "Well you should find your volume control." Before she could finish however, the number on the coffee makers clock began to change rapidly, almost like it was malfunctioning. It started Carmen into backing away. "What the---" Then several things happened at once. First, the music player on the ground went up in sparks, followed by the coffee maker, then the lights above their heads. "Hit the deck!!" Al shouted, and the two fire fighters quickly entered a curled position, covering their heads with their hands. Carmen felt a burning sensation on her left pelvic area, followed by a stabbing pain. Her cellphone just detonated. Had she not been wearing that fire retardant equipment, she'd have needed some medical attention right there. "Shit! What's going on?! Al?! Karin?!" The asian woman shouted from her balled position. No answer, they must not have heard her, but it couldn't be held against them, as the explosion of the traffic and light posts outside started to become audible.
