She rubbed her eyes and began taking deep breaths until she calmed herself. She again wiped the tears from her eyes and looked at him. "Me and Roger cant do this alone... But are you sure you want to help us?" She asked. She knew she would not survive this, but she would rather die than to return to her sad excuse of a home and face her clansmen and tell them that all hope is lost. But worse, she knew that Roger would die too. Her only wish now was that she die first so she would not be able to see his lifeless body.

" We need some kind of help. And there isn't alot of people under thirty around here to go off adventuring. The only people I think that could help would be the two mecenaries the village are paying and housing at the moment to protect us all" he supplied. Hoping this new found information would help ease Mai's mind.

"Mercenaries? Wouldn't they ask for money? I have none.." She said and felt as if she could cry again but didn't. "Maybe they'll just help..." She said and got up. "I'm going to go talk to Roger, could you talk to them?" She asked and not waiting for answer she quickly went off to get Roger.

"Ahh..." The male guard groaned distraught. "I'm tired of this, Zenmai...the money and shelter is very nice. However, I'm not sure I can live without having to fight something back every three days, like we did in Cantha(just throwing a random country name out there...)."
"What are you saying?" The eastern woman spoke back. "That we're going to dessert them? What IF something does come." " "Then that will be there problem. I long for something to do."
"Please Toris, reconsider!"
The olive skinned man gave a sigh. "I'm going to speak with the elder." The Canthan native approached the ice village's head council man(right?), barbute removed to show respect. "High Elder." Toris began. "You're gold has been most helpful, the shelter most welcoming. But my partner and I long for action. Like an old blade, our skills become rusted if not used." He turned back, signaling Zenmai to come forward. "We ask not for money this time too keep us here for your defense. Simply something to do."

The elder looked up from his meeting and thought a few and remembered he had sent the youngsters off to fight the dragon. The old man simply smiled, the same one he gave Mai. "I just sent two travellors and my grandson to defeat Baph, the sacred dragon of ice. It is obvious that they wont be able to beat them. However you are to help them. You will not die, I promise you, just assist them in fighting it, it's as simple as that. Help the kids get the dragon to retreat and your action will be finely recognized and you shall have your fun." He said, seemingly amused by his decisions.

"An ice dragon you say?" Toris rubbed the hair on his face, pondering this challenge. "Tell me more of these children. Are they dragon-slayers in training? Thrill-seekers? Pieces to a prophecy? Surely there is a good reason why they would be sent off to force a dragon back." Zenmai, seeing she had no say in this, would back off to meet their companions, since it seemed they were going to anway.

"They aren't peices to a prophecy, they are the prophecy." He then seemed to laugh. "They will be the ones to break the power of fate and bring about the power of free will." He finished then went quiet. After a moments silence. "Now then... where was I?" He asked the elder by him and they commenced their conversation. 'Little do these mercs know, they too are part of it..' He thought to himself, happy that the prophecy finally came to order.

"Hmm...really?" The jungle native finished and placed his helmet back upon his head. "Well then, thank you for your time, sir." The two soldiers left the building soon after. They had been there long enough to be able to recognize the elder's grandson, and within a few minutes, located him. "Lynn? Correct?" Zenmai asked the boy. "Well, in any case, you're the elder's grandson. We're the two soldiers from Cantha hired to protect your village here. Due to the docile nature of the surrounding area...and the complete lack of enemies, it's seems we can be expended, and--" Toris interrupted her. "And, we've been ordered to assist you in your little quest." He drove the blade end of the righteous scythe into the snow covered ground, trying to expel some excitement. "Now we understand you've two companions coming. Lead us to them."

Lynn nodded to the two older mecenaries. He turned around and walked towards the church. There good was becoming quite interesting really. Now there was a mage, two fighers, a ritualist and an inexperienced archer. Now all they needed was a healer and they would be set. He entered the main room of the church and awaited his new companions to come in. Once they did he quickly shut the door. " Mai, Roger we have new companions" he called to the siblings.

Roger was now in the human body and only looked at the two new people blankly. The little bunny, which was Mai's favorite form, hopped with glee. "Let's just get this over with..." Roger mumbled almost sounding as if he were angry. Then again who wouldn't be angry when they have to fight a dragon in order to save their village, and being kids this wasn't picking berries. "I think the elder forgot to tell us where the dragon lives." (Dunno which moron forgot to put that... <.< >.>) "I'll go ask..." He said and left quietly. within a minute he was back. "He said something of an ancient cave within a deep crevase. I dunno what that is." He said and leaned against the wall. Perhaps one of the three who actually lives here knows.

" I can take you there but I shall have to talk to Soleil first" he spoke up. Lynn walked through some of the rooms and finally knocked on one. " Priestess are you in there" he askedd aloud. The door creaked opened showing the woman. " A great task is ahead of you isn't it?" she asked him. The boy nodded in response, then asking. " Is it true that is there a guardian protecting the cave?". " Yes, he will ask one of you to do a task for him first. For at the end of the cave is a crossroad. A quick transport to another area, it is safe passage but only for the race of nature, the Fae( or Fey). Such areas need their touch, such as Nymph's, Siren's or Dryads". He took in the information. " Thank you", " But before you and your companions set out let me give a gift to each of you. They shall each serve a purpose when the time comes". Soleil walked over and brought a small chest over. Lynn moved aside letting her pass and have her come to their small group. He followed suit.
" Adventurers before you set out on your journey please let me give you some gifts". She set the chest down on a small wooden table then opened it. " For the young fighter" she started to say as she pulled out a long sword, engraved in runes. " A sword that once belonged to my own brother. Use it well" she passed it onto Roger. " For Mai, Staff of Fire. It came call forth a fireball, a wall and can be used as a torch" she passed to the young mage. Then came a regal looking fan, it had metal barbs on the end which could be used as a make shift weapon as well, it was fit for the Imperial queen herself. " Zenmai this is for you" she stated simply. " Toris you shall recieve a Double Dawrven Battle Axe, crafted by the high smith Tordak" she place the axe in his hands. " And lastly Lynn I present you with something other then a weapon. With your innate talent relating to nature. Druidic clothing. Even in the harshest of weather conditions they shall change to accomidate the climate. And with a certain word can also affect your companions in the same manner" Handing over the clothing to him.
Lynn grabbed his clothing and quickly changed. He wore an earthy brown vest and a forest green shirt underneath, the sleeves were very short. Brown cloth bracers/bands adorned his wrists. Long brown pants with slits on the side to show a bit of skin. Underneath the pants were brown leather boots reaching to the middle of his calves. The lastly the boy put on a forest green chocker. Walking out to the group with bow in hand, a full quiver of arrows on his back. " Are we ready?" he asked them.

Roger held the sword and his eyes scanned it thoroughly. 'What?... I dont even know her... She's going to give me a sword in which one of her own kin has weilded? Why?' Roger was thoroughly confused and it was giving the excited Mai a headache. "For god's sakes! Just thank her and stop worrying about it!" She snapped at Roger. Sometimes the two's thoughts get connected and they can hear. Roger quickly thanked her with great pleasure. Mai wished she could hold the staff but at the moment and animal wouldn't be able to carry it. Roger picked it up and held out the sad excuse of a staff. "Um... Mai wanted to give you this for thanks. She's had it ever since our father made her for her." Sure it wasn't much but it was special to Mai and the lady's generosity is beyond those they've met so far. After that Roger looked at Lynn and gave a slight nod as he picked up Mai and put her on his head. He then exited the church to await the others.

The two soldiers studied their gifts. How did this woman know what they were skilled best in? Maybe this went deeper than they thought. But, in anycase, they were grateful. "Thank you, Priestess." Toris gave respectful bow of the head. "We will guard your fellow villager, and the two adventurers with our lives." Zenmai didn't say anything, for her partner said that was needed. After that, they too left the church, to join their companions.

" Be on your way. Your companions are expecting you now" she gracefully lifted her arms and pointed to the doors with the newly aquired staff in hand. " Thank you" he whispered before going outside to also join his companions. It was odd wasn't it? How this woman knew their strengths, or what they might need. " Maybe we should stock up supplies. Like proper clothing and such. Incase we may be split up" he said. Lynn wasn't as bright as the female mage but he was wise. He once heard how long many mages studies their texts to learn new spells, or read scriptures from wand, scrolls or even staffs. He had to admit he was certainly an anomaly. His natural talent to nature was uncanny, maybe his father was once a ranger or druid? Who knew.

Roger nodded in agreement. 'If we do split up, we wont survive..' Mai was thinking under her brother's hood with a sigh. 'If me and Roger are out here alone we'd get lost and it didn't matter how much items we had to prepare ourselves, we would most likely not find our way back.' She continued with a large pessimistic side which she just newly obtained from her upset brother. Oh how she hated having practically the same feelings.
