The lofting snowflakes danced gracefully on the cold winter's wind. The ground long frozen over, nature reverting itself into hibernation. The deer were still grazing the bits and pieces of grass not covered. This area was almost untouched by the Royal empire. So much farther north, they say that even Trolls can't stand this temperate climate.
Crouching behind a small white hump in the meadow a small figure laid their back to it. A bow out, an arrow notched. The person was trying as much as possible not to make much sound. The crunching of the snow was like he sound of an avalanche. A face peaked out of the white-grey cloak. A younger face, definately male though. He looked older then fourteen seasons, but no more then eighteen. " Come out, I'm not going to hurt you" yelled out a very masculine voice. The sound echoed what seemed like forever. Glancing at every direction possible, the boy found his only escape was to be the forest.... but didn't the Village Elders forbide anyone to go in there unless they were escorting a caravan? He shook his head almost violently. He needed to run. With his mind made up the boy bolted from his position. Tripping over a hidden log but luckily he managed to save himself from falling. " I see you boy!" by the sound of it this man didn't learn to speak the common tongue of this land. So it was more garbled, sounding like " I seya boy!" the last word more emphasized. His heart racing, his feet moving fast as possible me managed to seek a hole underneath a small ledge with a tree uptop. Quitely trying to even out his breath, he heard the footsteps coming closer and closer.

A boy was shivering fiercely as his hands, wearing brown deerskin gloves, quickly grasped his large shabby coat, of the same material as his gloves, and pushed it closer as he looked as if he were hugging himself. Under the large hood long feathery black hair fell out into the boy's dim black eyes. Hiding in his hood and on his head were white long ears as a bunny's head would pop curiously out then back into it's protection from the cold. "M-Mai.. We should t-turn back. It's t-to cold." The boy said with a deep frozen studdar. The bunny shuffled through his long hair and popped it's head out again. "We're so close.. There's bound to be a town somewhere around here." Protested the female-voiced rabbit and the boy was either too tired or too cold to argue. They have been travelling for quite some time their reason and destination are of yet unknown. They have two weopons, one is stick that could pass as a cheap staff, the other was some metal gaunlets which was in the boy's coat, since it would be more of a pain to wear heavy gauntlets in such cold temperatures. An hour passed of walking when they heard some people yell. The only thing they actually heard was "boy" and Roger, the boy, assumed that it was him being called at and the young boy, that seemed about fourteen or fifteen, dropped into the snow behind a tree in fear. The rabbit was also shaking, though she had been the whole way from the cold so it was nothing new.
(Yay for my crappy intro!!)

" Where the Hell is that little..." The man spat out loud curses in another language. The young hugged his knees to his chest. His bow and arrow leaned on him. The cold wasn't much of a problem for him any more. He lived here almost his entire life. The sounds of the man's boots crunched closer then pause. Then it started back up again but they were quiter. So the man was going away was he? Good riddence then. ' I should wait a bit before I try antyhing incase it's a trap' he thought.

"Mai, change places with me, I'll find out what's going on.." Roger asked and the bunny hopped out onto the frozen ground and suddenly the boy changed genders and the bunny seemed to change into a siberian wolf with thick white fur, perfect for this temperature. The wolf ran quickly by a tree and peeked his nose around it and saw the man acting as if he was leaving. 'It doesn't seem like he's after us.' Roger thought and stuck his nose in the air and caught a scent of someone else. 'I wonder if I should follow it, then again it may be best to stay out of other people's business.' He reasoned with himself in his mind as he waited to see what would happen first.

The man was actually quite large. Maybe standing at 6'1, approximately one hundred and ninety pounds. Grasped within one of his slightly larger hands was a battle axe. He took another glance around and he started to walk back to his cabin. " I'll teach him who's the boss... and when he comes back to the vilage he'll wish he was dead like his whore of a mother" he grumbled. The kid rested his forehead on his knees, the tears sliding down his face. That man took away his mother. She died.... and he said it was his fault for not getting the right herb. " Is it true? Was it me who killed her?" he whispered. how could his mother leave him with a monster like that as a father!

Roger managed to finally find the person he had smelt. He saw the hole and whispered. "The man you're hiding from is gone." He spoke in a natural english accent. For a wolf it looked more like a pup but that was only because they couldn't fake their age through shape shifting. Both Roger and Mai are pecular for they both possess two bodies and two souls that are one. Only one may possess the animal shape-shifting body while the other inhabits the human. With this pair their team work is better than brute strength. As their family's heritage the boy grew up to be a fighter, the girl a mage, but both are quite inexperienced. "I know you're there and I would appreciate it if you answered me for it is freezing out here." Said the wolf wearily.

" Crouching out of his hiding spot the boy slowly came out. To see a somewhat youngish wolf. " Who are you and how can you talk?" he asked the wolf. Living farther north the chance to run into anything really magical was obscene. Even the local healer wasn't very capable in the form of the magical arts. So up here they mostly relied on herbs and spices and such to brew anti-toxins and potions. He clenched his bow tightly in his hand just incase. " If yuor a magical being of some sort yuo should have chosen an animal form that's more suited to this harsh enviroment".

"Keep nagging for later." Roger said kind of annoyed. Roger wasn't really a big conversational peice as his sister and he doesn't have much manners. "I need to get back to my sister. Would you come with me so that you may show us to where a town is before we end up freezing?" He asked, not really expecting an answer since he already began to trot a slow pace, waiting for the other to follow. Mai didn't have much physical strength at all so she couldn't handle the cold as well as Roger and already it was getting to her, sitting by a frozen tree. When in the human form the two didn't look much different except a few obvious parts and their eye color, the boy had black, the girl had blue eyes.

He ended up following the talking wolf pup. To see a girl sitting near a tree. ' Huh.... kinda foolish to come up here without being very prepared' he thought. He wore a tanned skin suit like clothing trimmed with white fur, his head was keeping warm by a hood attached to the suit linned with fur. And with his cloak on it wasn't that bad... yet. Wait till nightfall. If they needed a guide to the village then they'd better hurry it'd be at least an hour or two till they reach it and night wasn't very forgiving here. " I'll show you and her the way to the village.." he was hesitant in saying that. He didn't want to come back to see that man.

The girl was a bit startled to see the person but felt a little at ease when she saw Roger. Roger looked up at the man and nodded. "Thank you..." He said and walked over by Mai who slowly got up, half numb from the cold. She was quite thirsty as was roger but their canteen was completely solid. 'She's too tired, I'll have to take the body in case she falls unconcious.' Roger thought then the girl changed again, this time into roger. The wolf was a snow bunny yet again. Roger picked her up and put her on his head before putting the hood over her. "Let's hurry please." He asked as politely as he could.

He nodded in response. He began heading a north west direction. Going towards the mountains. Perfectly hidden, even the path to the village was treacherous who ever you were. The only thing that could safely reach them was a flying animal but up here that wouldn't be acheived anymore so. After half an hour on their trek neither of them was speaking. " Why are you going to Ysskerdahl?" he asked the other person. " By the way my name is Lynn" he spoke up.

"We're looking for something." Roger replied to his question. "I am Roger, and she is Mai." He said while gesturing towards his head as hare's head popped out of the hood and looked at Lynn. "We're mostly passing through but it's not long until dark so we need a place to rest." Mai said as she went under and seemed to bite Roger's head. "Ow!" He yelled angerly. "What was that fo-" Before he finished the sentence he remembered that they weren't from this country and the people here could be against them and telling plans is a stupid idea. Roger quickly shut up and they continued to walk.

" I see. We don't have visitors often so we don't have an inn but maybe you could stay at the church. I beleive they have beds" he told the two. Odd he was helping complete strangers... but Lynn always thought he had a good judge of character. Maybe he was wrong about these two. He sighed out deeply. ' Lets not think too much eh?" he thought. He didn't need a headache with the cold about him.

"I dont suppose there's any monsters out here." Roger said as his head turned right and left curiously. Where they came from there were many predatory animals, even undead that would sometimes lurk to attack travellors. Sometimes if the monsters were smart enough they would start a horde and attack villages.

" I don't think so. But this is the first time I've been this far out here during the winter. The only things out here right now are animals, trolls, maybe the odd orge, a hostile traveller. Thats about it really" he commented. They now stood at the foot of the mountains. " I hope you can climb well". For Roger's and Mai's sake this guy better have to. He slung his bow on his back and started to climb the snow covered rocks. He almost slipped after grabbing a certain rock. " Damn.." murmmuring the curse.
