"Yeah...I know you remember..." Carmen said weakly, trying to look into the dark man's eyes. Her hands began to loosen again, but still, she continued to talk. "July...eight forty-two PM. I managed to lure up to seventeen men......" she trailed off...simply mumbling, as her train of thought started to derail. It seemed she was now thinking of a time during her school years. "Yes, madame Do...I know what it means... just don't know...what you mean..." Must have been French class. "Essayzes...elle prete..." Then, the next moment, she seemed to bury her nose into Eugene's shirt. "Damn it...I thought...I thought....I added...the...fabric....fabric softener..." The clasp she was making with her hands started to become undone, until it had finally released. Even so, she continued talking. "An...oil......change.......for....five......dollars? Get....outta............here........................................................" She'd finally passed out.

"An...oil......change.......for....five......dollars? Get.... outta............ here.." Her hand dropped to the side and dangled lifelessly. Her head slumped to the side, mouth agape. Eugene's hopeless gasps echoed throughout the warehouse, painful remembrances of times past. He laid his head against her shoulder. A slight pulse, hardly noticeable, resided there. A tender brush against her cheek. The fabric of her shirt was moist, darkened with tears. In the elevator, Eugene shifted his grip, holding her tighter against his chest. His knees weren't any stronger than a plate of jell-O. Without warning, His elbows nearly gave away. His biceps wouldn't hold Eugene's hopes up any longer. He began shuffling his feet towards the step in front of the air vent. Like an out-of-body experience, he watched himself move onwards. The strange dark-skinned man sat on the step and rocked back and forth, the small woman in his arms.

When they got to the elevator Eddy was quiet. He just listened in sadness as the two spoke. Then she fell limp in the man's arms. Eddy thought immediately that she was dead. He didn't want to say nothing but he also didn't want her to turn into one of them right there. "Is.. She alive?" He asked shakily, staring into the blank eyes of the other man.

Lana seemed to squeeze her backpack's straps, when she listened to the two talk. When Carmen lost her conciousness, she took off her backpack and opened in in haste. She quickly got on a good set of gloves and pulled out some medical supplies. "Eugene...Let me see her...I might be able to save her..." She knew that because of the lack of supplies and equipment, Carmen could die, but she needed to try and help. She felt that because she could help, she needed to.
She reached over and checked for Carmen's pulse and her eyes widened. She couldn't feel it. She waited for a moment, and then felt a weak pulse. "Jesus...I...Eugene...Let me do what I can. Let me try." Maybe, she should have fixed Carmen up in the park. She should have done so earlier. Lana spread out the supplies she needed and closed her eyes. She needed to try.

"Is.. She alive?" "Eugene...Let me see her...I might be able to save her... Jesus... I... Eugene... Let me do what I can. Let me try." The doors closed with a ping and a morbid heat drove into the small space, brought on by nothing. Eugene leaned back, and let his back lightly hit the wall of the car, before drawing his arms into his chest. He furrowed his brow as Lana worked, then looked away. Sliding against his back, he lowered himself into a sitting position, then into a laying position, knees drawn up, eyes wide, but staring at nothing. A funereal mood pressed on the cabin but still Eugene made no joke. As the needle tore through flesh and Carmen's face twitched in response, still, he made no movement. Bleak eyes transfixed on a wall. Shallow breathing dragging with it morose regression. Once the morning sun seemed such a beautiful thing. All that came in it's wake were pain and loss.

Having bloodied hands and wearing gloves over it didn't help her much and annoyed her. The latex gloves seemed to stick to her skin like glue, and her hands seemed to tremble as she worked on the wound. With eyes, that didn't blink, she made sure that she fixed the wound correctly. Lana reached for the her bag, and without turning to look, she picked out things she needed. "Carmen, you hold in there." She would whisper to the unconcious woman every now and then. "I'll try and fix it."
Lana finally got around to cleaning it and then fully wrapping it securely. It seemed to take forever to fix the wound, but she did it. She stood up and looked at Carmen with tired eyes, and then turned to the mess she made. Lana made no move to fix it, and instead, walked over to the edge of the roof and looked down at the glowing red eyes. "I hope it isn't always this way." Lana sat down and leaned against a wall, befoe she closed her eyes. She was tired, and was sure that everyone else was.

Eddy didn't watch when Lana was doing the precedure. Instead he stood and leaned on the railing of the roof. This was all so quick. People dying, dead killing.. It was all too much for him. To top it all off he didn't have his beloved mortacycle to comfort him in emotional times. He sighed, it was probably just another flaming peice of rubble now.

Lana finished the procedure and Eddy remained motionless. Eugene, with slow, deliberate moves, eased himself into a sitting position. Ghostly wailing surrounded him on all sides. He counted the number of wraps the gauze made again, and again. Thirty. He clumsily got to his no, nearly tripping twice along the way. In a fit of rage, he ran to anything laying on the roof, charging, and throwing them off the roof, to the hordes of undead below. Nothing hit. A solid five minutes put Eugene out of breathe, but still stoic, almost lifeless.

During all this, Carmen had been going through some internal conflict of her own...something she had repressed, and was happy to. July 14 2006, infiltration of a suspected faction of the drug cartel...unfortunately, the only way at the time was through the prostitution ring. A female volunteer was required...and was asked to step forward...everyone but Carmen stepped back, distracted by the mesmerizing tune of The Beatles. The operation was going well, until she bent over to pick up something, and her badge fell out of her pocket. She was seized immediately and taken to "a room in the back" for "friendly questioning." Carmen had her hands shackled above her head, forced to sit in a chair, with her feet shackled in front of her. A female figure approached her, waving a paddle-shaped object. "So, Officer Carmen Hu..." she said with a deliberately comforting voice at first. "Boss knows you saw him whack Vinnie. He's a very generous man, you know. He's willing to let you live...but you can't go anywhere....but...don't worry, you and me can play everyday, until you're ready to be in that costume for real." "What do you mean by----" Carmen was going to ask to ask, but it was cut short, with a red spherical object was shoved into her mouth, and two straps were fastened behind her head. "Quiet!" the other woman snapped bitterly. "You talk to much. Come on, you get to meet your other playdates." The woman slapped a pair of handcuffs on the already bound Korean woman, before unshackling her hands and feet. Forcing her down a hall, she hit her in the rear with the paddle. "Faster." Carmen could only comply, until her help arrived. It was all just a delaying game right now. "Next room." The woman said, turning Carmen into it. Dhe was forced to her knees and hands, and felt a sharp pain in her rear again. "You need to understand." The woman spoke like a teacher now. "Some men out there are rough!" Another whack, other cheek. "Some aren't!" A whack to her right breast. "You must learn to endure both kinds if we wish to be a successful prostitute!" A harder whack to the left one. "And some..." Carmen was whimpering at this point, as she felt her rear and legs becoming bare. "Some...just want to shove themselves right into you..." The handle came close to entering, before the door swung open. "Put it down!!" A gruff male voice went out. It was a man clad in police armor. Carmen couldn't see his face, but she knew who it would be in a few moments. He ran over to the woman, and hit her with the butt of his gun. "Clear! We got one...oh shit...Carmen?! My god...girl, what happened to you?" He had bent down and released her of her gag and bindings. Twenty other men filed in behind him; SWAT had arrived. "Get some blankets. Carmen...hang in there, girl...."
It was then she came too...very slowly. Her eys adjusted to the light, and she could see she was on the roof. Very numb, she could only move so slightly. She turned her head to find Eugene. "E-Earl..." she called out faintly.

She hummed, sitting on her favorite spot throughout the whole mall, the highest part of the roof. Lana stared down at the ground, watching all the dead walk, before her hand came up to put a lit cigerette into her mouth. "That blonde one reminds me of Britney Spears..." She muttered and then chuckled. She actually seemed to be enjoying it. "Mmm...Oh look. There's MJ." Of course, she couldn't really see their faces from the roof, but she needed something to do.
Her back was turned to the group, and she seemed to be paying no attention to them. She continued to stare at the ground with tired eyes and began to slouch. She just couldn't sleep. Lana was afraid of going to sleep in this place. "Damn you God. If this is what you call a test...I think you ain't as good as people say you were." She blew out a puff of smoke and rubbed her eyes. "I don't feel like going down there again..."

Eddy glanced over when he heard Lana say something. He looked to where she was pointing and couldn't see anything until he saw that blond undead woman. Hearing Lana say "Britney Spears" made him chuckle. He looked intently until he walked by her (After hearing her mumble more to herself, Eddy was thinking she might have lost it.) and pointed. "Now THAT looks like Britney Spears." He said with a chuckle. His finger directed to a fat man with a shiney bald head. He chuckled. He thought he could hear talking behind him but he figured he's allow those two their moment.

Eugene gazed into the parking lot below, tired arms propping him up, hanging onto the concrete lip below. he watched as a squat woman tripped over a thrown propane tank, and scoffed. He started tapping his fingers, studying the clicks his fingernails made for a moment, before mouthing the words to a song he didn't know he knew. "Little child Dry your crying eyes How can I explain The fear you feel inside ´cause you were born Into this evil world Where man is killing man and no one knows just why..." He looked back at Carmen. She hadn't moved at all for a long time since she got fixed up. "E-Earl?" He stuttered, and sharply inhaled. Clenching his teeth and shaking his head, he looked towards the horizon, before deeply breathing and looking behind him. with a graceful movement, her eyes fluttered open and her head scanned from side to side tiredly. Goosebumps grew on his skin. Another sharp breath, ragged and relieved. A Golden light enveloped the roof. Eugene drunkenly wobbled to Carmen's head, and sunk to his knees in tears. Spilling out was all his fear, hope, love and exhaustion. Almost praying over the body, He took his hands and clenched hers. "I-I'm h-h-here."

A sudden warmth surged through her body, starting from joined hands of herself and the dark-skinned man. A smile spread on her face, on those lips started to split, and her hoarse voice escaped from the breach. "I-I knew you wouldn't...leave me..." Carmen's free hand went up to grab onto his knee, she wanted to confirm he was really there and not some hallucination, just as she had though that year ago. She tried to scoot up closer to him...but she could not move. The most she could muster were head and arm movements, legs or anything below her torso really, were far beyond impossible to move at this time. "I still remember the last time you held me like this...a lot clearer than you might think..." A shudder coursed through her body at the thought of...almost having been violated by a piece of wood. "Before...before I go on...I'd like to move...to move someplace...that is much...much warmer..."

She laughed at Eddy's joke and looked at him sleepily. Lana put her elbow on her thigh and rested her head on her hand. "I hope nothing happened while we left...Those people in the room where fucking pani..." She yawned and shook her head. "...panicking. I swear to God that I will not go out to save their sorry asses if they did. Y'know what I'm saying?" By this time, she seemed to be spacing out and really out of it, but she would shake her head occasionally in an attempt to get rid of her tiredness.

Eddy shook his head confidently. "I'm sure it's fine. I trust that the zombies can't get up into the room." Eddy said with an attempt to comfort, but he also believed it himself. Little did he know hiding desperately somewhere on the very roof they were on, the group of survivors were. "We should bring uh.. Carmen and.. Earl back to the security room though. It should be warmer there." He said after barely hearing Carmen in the background.
