"Fall IN!" the now aroused camp fell into marching position. "I would like to take this time to congratulate Lieutenant Khan, Corporal Gomez, and Privates Scotty and Williams on their recent success eliminating- where's Gomez?!" "He fell off the bank sir, we weren't able to recover the body before the Yuke APC arrived." "No matter, I doubt that anyone down there will notice the Ustian flag. I have great news!" He said, yelling to the army rather than the snipers. "Akel and I have had a discussion at great length, and have come to the conclusion the he shall be second in command! Any orders given to you by him, or through him, no matter how foolish it may seem, WILL be followed!"
the last of the preparation before the march. we WILL overtake this beachhead "WE WILL MARCH AT SUNSET!" cheers resounded through the crowd, if not mostly humoring me...

The APC had returned to the captured camp, body bags took up nearly all the space inside. "Send these to the examiner, private." Kusuma ordered. "I'll check on them after I meet with the General." "Yes Colonel!" When the colonel showed General Kanon the patch, she identified it as the new Ustian flag.
"Ustian? The country of Ustio had been immolated twenty years ago by the war they had started. Surely they couldn't have established an army by now..."
"Have you not heard, Kusuma? Ustio fell under a dictatorship a decade ago. They're nothing but fascist now. But even so, you are correct. There is no way they can have an army by now."
"What?! General! Proof is right THERE! The body i found had a uniform with that patch!"
"The Halteese army is composed of soldiers and MILITIA. The wearer could have picked up at a pawn shop."
"I refuse to..."
"You idiot! Haltie is our only enemy! The Halteese don't have the backbone to enlist an ally, and even if so, the Ustians would NEVER accept the deal."
"What if they aren't allied with anyone, a third party perhaps?"
"A third party?! No other country has the balls to meddle in a war between two superpowers. Colonel! I want you out. I refuse to speak of this anymore!"
"But--"
"OUT!!!" Kusuma growled under her breath, and left the quarters. 'Figures.' She thought to herself. 'If this war is to end soon, that woman must be eliminated.'

Finally the Halteese retreaters made it to their camp and rested. This whole ordeal with the Yukes was bothering Townes so much that he decided to ask about it. He took out his radio and turned it to the transmission that was recieved from their commander. "Think this funny dont you? Think you can psych us out by doing random things like blowing an opening for us then slaughtering your own troops?" He said coldly, hoping for a reply.

Unfortunatly for Townes, but a good thing for the Yuke army, The General did not recieve that transmission. The field commander, however, did. "Huh-hey?!' Kusuma replied to the radio. "How did you gain access to this channel? Oh! Nevermind. I don't really care right now. And you know why this happened." An idea came to her to see if the Halteese were involved in this. "Your spy sabotaged the targetting system on our battleship." She accused. "And then you position a sniper to kill the man I...erhrm..the men down in valley. Now you try to accuse us of attacking our own army?"

"Spy!? What spy? I think your troops just screwed up!" Townes back-fired. "And we had no snipers out, we had occasional scouts who caught sight of the incident. Pretty sick to think that you'd murder your own troops." Townes continued, deep disgust in his voice.

"Believe what you want. I know the truth already." That was partially true. Kusuma knew the Halteese couldn't have done it. There is no way they could have gotten past their beachhead to get a spy on board their battleships, and the Halteese were retreating during the advance so placing a sniper would be meaningless, for he'd need evac, too. Next, she ordered her squad's best hacker to perform a series of tasks. "You want me to WHAT?!" the hacker asked surprised. "I want you to hack into the data files of our military records, and as much as you can of Halteese." "But why?" (backing up a bit to state how the war started...bare with me!) The Yuktobanian government contacted the Halteese government, claiming Halteese tanks were sighted on their land. The Halteese insisted that they had no tanks on the Yuktobanian soil, however tanks from Yuktobania had been sighted in Haltie. And as a result, this whole war.
"You know why this war started, correct?" "Yes, ma'am." "Well, isn't it odd that tanks would be sent across the ocean? I can't even imagine why. Recon would be unlikely, they'd be spotted to easy, especially in a group. It'd be better to use a spy or unmanned drone for that. And if was to attack, getting tanks there would be to much work. I'd have used bombers."
"I understand what you mean, Colonel. So what do you want me to do?"
"Well. I want you to look at the serial numbers of any missing tanks before this war started. If I recall, there were seven missing. Haltie might have had the same problem."
"Cracking our codes will be easy compared to the Halteese mainframe. This might take sometime."
"Take all the time you need. The general decided to punk out early today. If you manage to dig up the serial numbers, this war may end in very short order."

"Fall IN!" the sea of men and women got into a grid-like formation. "This war is ours for the taking! Those nice Yukes are even clearing out the other enemy! hopefully the brain-washing worked They dirtied OUR soil! They crushed our pride! They immolated our country, our people, OUR DIGNITY! Do these heathens deserve our mercy? I say we do to them what they did to us, so many years past!" A flurry of berets and helmets flew a short ways in the air. "To your posts!" "YES SIR!" The ground rumbled under me, if only slightly, due to the mass of death dealers behind me. as I flipped my saber up, down, in, out, I listened for the battle cries. here and there you could hear them... base captured, fort won, outpost taken... A very one-sided battle... The battlefield draws nearer, just as my revenge draws closer. It is almost time.

Townes was no thoroughly confused as he ended the transmission. This whole war was built up on accusations, no real truth behind any of it. Someone must be manipulating.

A cadet rushed into the quarters where the hacker and Kusuma had set up. "Colonel! There has been an attack...well actually several attack, on the many areas of our beachhead!" "By the Halteese?' "No! They bear a flag I've never seen before!" Kusuma lifted the binoculars around her neck to her eyes, as she studied the bunkers laying before the camp. They seemed undisturbed for now. Then the transmissions flooded in. "Enemy attack! It's not from the Halteese either!" "Attack getting fierce, we're in trouble here!" "Where's the General?!'
And with that, Kusuma left the quarters, and went out to the center of the camp. The General managed to find a way to sleep through this, but she wasn't really one to be defensive anyway. "Lieutenant Colonel?" One of the soldiers said. "Where is the General." "Sleeping. we'll be better off with out her. But that doesn't matter." Clearing her throat, she announced a briefing to all the soldiers in earshot. "At ease people, as you know, I command an armored cavalry division, and know only how to position vehicles, but I'll do my best to man you infantry, too. Anyway! I want long range ballistic users; Rocket buggies, mortar men, mortar tanks, behind the wall, and on high ground. When the enemy comes into view, smash them with all you have. Heavy armor; Battlemasters and Foxbats, line the entrance, but try to keep spaced. Prevent anything from getting into this camp, I'll order missile armed soldiers to help you by firing from towers and bunkers! Now the rest of you, marksmen and sharpshooters especially, stay in the camp and mop up anything that manages to get past our tanks! I'll attempt to call in air support from our air craft carrier. Can you all comply?" A roar was what responded to her, as all the soldiers yelled "HOO-RAH!!" And no later than a minute, they began setting up.

A soldier walked up to Townes and saluted. "No enemy advancement has been seen, we've scouted the surrounding area and nothing, not even their own scouts." Townes was now confused. "Alright, I want a small team with me, we're going to scout farther out. The rest of you hold the base in case of an attack." The troops nodded. Since most of the halteese troops were malitia, most of them didn't turn out to be ass-kissers or honorable, Townes didn't seem to mind. Him and his small group continued until he found an army of unknown origin, heading straight for Yuke encampents. Townes' confusion was wiped away. 'I get it, have us fight and weary ourselves then come in to take us both down without much of a problem... Damn... Smart...' He thought and shook his head. 'Should I radio the Yukes and ask for peace, maybe even an alliance against these guys, or gather troops to fight this army after the Yukes are defeated?' His question now bothered him as he sat upon the hilltop, thinking of which ally would be best. 'If the Yukes radio asking for help, I will, but I'll sit back, allying with either might be stupid.' He thought and he and his group went back to base.

The huge crunch of the stones made calling out orders nearly impossible as we crested the final hill. "PRESENT ARMS!" the flood of people all raised their guns, the only way I found that could effectively shut them up... "Here's the plan, one last time. Our Tornado's will bomb the hell out of anyone, anything, in their way, leaving a dent in the Yukes, and a firing trench for us. At this point, the sharpshooters will back up infantry who will be running to the trench. Then we will lay suppressive fire so that everyone else can get through." there might have been a reply, but most of it was drowned out by the low-flying jets. With the whistling came a huge sound, terribly loud, and a blinding white. The disintegration was instant. "Run, boys! RUN!" machine gun fire rang out through the canyon, yelling was nonstop. "USE THE TANKS FOR COVER!" the mounted defenses were tearing us apart. Finally, as we dived into the trench, everything seemed to slow... bullets became visible, movement became sluggish. I waved my hand over. "Move your asses down here!!!!" The mounted artillery took no time setting up, adding to the madness. A foxbat opened fire and knocked us back. pure insanity. I wielded my saber as the early forces dwindled. waving it through the air, a hoarse voice sounded. "CHARGE!!! FOCUS ON THE NORTH WALL!!!" My ears were ringing, I knew that they did not have a chance, we were laying siege to the exterior walls now. "This is ours!!!!!! Fight!!!!!! AAAAHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!" I couldn't help but scream as I unleashed my AK-SU into the gun mounts, still trying to be filled, to stand a chance. eight insane hours of fighting later, but it was worth it... we have a foothold on this war, and only a minor sixty some casualties...

The Yuktobanian army suffered heavily through this entire invasion. The forces remaining were rallied at the captured main camp, trapped. The Halteese on one end, the Ustians at the other. Kusuma tapped her chin, thinking of how to thwart this. "We won't survive this next attack. They'll overrun us..." her gaze shifted to the Halteese fortress beyond the horizon, when an idea came to her. "General!" Kusuma announced sternly. "The new enemy strikes swift and strong, we won't last another battle against them." The general was still reasoning to herself. "Hmm...we can split our forces..and--" "Split our forces?!!" The field commander interjected. "Ma'am. The Halteese are not a threat anymore! Hell, the Ustians are probably trying to get to them, too! I suggest..No, I implore you--not even that, I INSIST you ask the Halteese for assistance." "Ask our enemy for help? Kusuma, you have no back bone!" The General then turned her back to reason again. The field commander had had it now, and pulled her sabre from it's sheath. 'Dammit!' She noted mentally. 'If the general won't do it, I will.' And with that, she trusted it into the back of Kanon's neck, piercing the jugular vein just below the throat. Blood spewed every, but at least the General died quick. Not wasting anytime, Kusuma reached for the radio. "Captain Townes!" She yelled anxiously. "This field commander Kusuma Nakazato of the Yuktobanian army...it is clear that we have made a mistake...a BIG mistake. And now we have an enemy nearly impossible to comprehend, let alone combat...alone anyway. I ask you, on behalf of my army, and your people to assist us against this new threat. Because, when they are through with us, they will be coming after you, and they will no doubt wipe the floor with you as well...and after that, the days of your people and your country will be numbered." She only hoped the other officer would understand this. A flicker of hope came after she ended that transmission, for a message came from the aircraft carrier. "Sorry about the delay, Field commander, we're sending stealth fighters equipped with bunker-buster bombs to your position. Hang in there. Over." The remaining troops and vehicles hurried to a defensive postion. If the Halteese come to assist, they might stand a chance.

Townes stood silently for a couple minutes, going over what he had just heard. It was as he thought. If the Halteese could barely handle the Yukes and the Yukes are being wiped clean, then they really have no choice. Halteese army wasn't full on rank, though Townes held a firm hold. "The troops you need... Will be sent..." Townes replied to his mutual ally. He picked up his comm and radioed his artillary commander. "We need to you to move to point Delta, ASAP!" Halteese Delta point is where Townes and his squad had scouted out the Ustians. He then radioed a base several miles away. "Command Tag, prepare the SCUD launcher.." After that a soldier came up to him. "Sir, spreading anthrax on our land?" Townes sighed. "I'd rather see it contaminated then in the hands of an unknown army." The soldier spoke up another doubt. "But wouldn't it affect the Yukes?" Townes laughed. "They have squads that can clean it up, besides, I'll radio to her to pull her men back before we fire." The soldier had no more objections. He then began marching his troops out, the whole base was to participate, soldiers, rocket troops, scorpion tanks, artillary, and much more. He radioed Kusuma again. "We need co-ordinates of the enemy." He said, eager to give them to the SCUD base.

"Standby. I'm getting into our satellite radar up-link. I'll have coordinates soon." Kusuma replied back. She checked in on her hacker again. "This whole attack is good, but we need evidence that they started the war between us, not Yuktobania or Haltie." She told him. "Well then, Lieutenant Colonel, I have good news. I have the numbers of all six tanks missing from our country, and the six from Haltie. And it gets better. These tanks, all fourteen, were located together at a Ustian camp we raided just a few hours ago. I've printed the information, This will give us authorization to launch an offensive against the Ustian." "Private, what could I do without you?" Kusuma replied gratefully, as the coordinates came to her. She grabbed the radio again, and announced to Townes. "Alright, the closest formation to us is about fourteen-hundred meters away, which is latitude south 64, longitude east 45 got that?" As stared off at the Halteese base again, she could see forces mobilizing to help them, and talk of SCUDs on the radio. 'That'll make things worse..' she mentally noted, and contacted Townes again. "Captain, I hope you don't plan on using SCUD missiles. I think you should save them unless there are no other options left."
Meanwhile, what remained of the Yuke force there, maybe 120 men and 40 vehicles, readied at there posts, heavy armor guarding the entrance, long range attackers above the cliff, clear shots of the canyon below. The Ustians would have to go uphill to get into their camp, which would give the newly formed allies the advantage of high ground. "So, Ustio has been behind this all along." Kusuma said aloud to herself. "If that's so, then what was this war all about?"

"Glory!" I said to the voice across the link, "You should think about locking the transmit button to 'off' before you lay it down..." if it's a fight they want, it's a fight I'll deprive them of "Go around the borders! avoid the main encampment at all costs! Tension this rope before we cut it in two!" "YEAH!!!!!!!!" thus the Great Raids begun. they will read it in history books forever more "General Kanon!" static... "GENERAL KANON!" all static... "I would like to come to an... agreement... ANSWER!" I guess the suffering will continue...
